Berkeley Lake's CAN-DO Food Drive a Success

A Note From Diane Pezzutti:

IT'S ABOUT TIME...to cheer for the CAN-DO collection results!

On the week of March 7th, volunteers distributed about 620 recycled brown bags with flyers to all of the Berkeley Lake homes throughout the city. The flier message requested that the bags be filled with canned goods, dry goods and personal items and left by each mailbox on Sunday, March 13th, coinciding with the time change for Daylight Saving.

That Sunday, 23 high school volunteers and several adult volunteers picked up a total of 126 bags. Volunteers packed every inch of Charles Carroll's truck  and Tom Kolb's car. The two  delivered the bags to the Norcross Cooperative Ministry the next morning.

Plus, 5 additional bags were dropped at City Hall on the following few days. WHAT A WONDERFUL CITY FILLED WITH WONDERFUL GIVING CITIZENS! Over 21 percent participated in this Can Drive and filling the needs of their less fortunate neighbors.

Due to these on-going needs, the drive will be continue. Please drop by City Hall with a can or two whenever you CAN.
