Basketball News-Girls

Diamond DeShields was selected the U-17 World Championship Team in June, her 3rd year to be chosen.  The team representing the U.S. at the 2012 FIBA Under-17 World Championships, is currently competing through August 27th in Amsterdam, Netherlands. DeShields is the most decorated national team player on the team with two gold medals to her credit and hopefully will earn her third gold medal this year.

Diamond will also represent the USA in the FIBA U-18 3-on-3 World Championships, Sept 27-30, in Seville, Spain. The four players who will be on the team also have training camp Sept. 21-24 in Colorado Springs.

Basketball News-Boys

It was a very busy summer for Norcross Boys' Basketball Alumni.

Jeremy Lamb was drafted #12 by the Houston Rockets. Jordan Demercy signed a professional basketball contract in Japan. Taariq Muhammad committed to Morehead State University after completing two years in junior college. We had two former players participate in the London Olympics; Al-Farouq Aminu (Nigeria - Basketball) and Jangy Addy (Liberia - Decathlon). Former player and NHS coach Bryan Bostic accepted a graduate assistant coaching job at the University of North Georgia. Reggie Anderson Jr. will be returning to NHS as head 9th grade basketball coach and assistant varsity coach.
