2012 Educational Update

& Constitutional Amendment Information

As is our custom every Fall, UPCCA presents an Educational Update to our membership.  Our Third District School Board member, Dr. Mary Kay Murphy, will lead our program with news of our Gwinnett public schools.

As Georgia voters, will be asked to vote on a constitutional amendment in November.  UPCCA is presenting an informational program featuring both sides of this important issue.  Rep. Jan Jones will be our speaker for the pro-amendment information. Gwinnett County Superintendent of Schools, Mr. J. Alvin Wilbanks, will be our speaker for the anti-amendment information.

The constitutional amendment for our consideration is as follows:

 "Shall the Constitution of Georgia be amended to allow state or local approval of public charter schools upon the request of local communities?"
