Attempted Child Abduction Reported at Gwinnett Park
A suspect has been arrested for attempting to lure children to his car at Gwinnett County's Bay Creek Park located in the eastern part of the county.
Editor's note: Although this incident did not happen in Peachtree Corners, we thought it an important reminder for parents living in any community.
The Grayson Athletic Association advised parent by email Tuesday of a series of attempted abductions that took place Monday night at Bay Creek Park in Loganville. According to the email, an arrest has been made.
Patch has contacted the police for confirmation and details of the arrest and will update when more details are available.
The email from the GAA to all its members, headed Attempted Child Abduction at Bay Creek Park, reads:
Disturbing event happened at our park last evening that should serve as reminder it can happen anywhere.
Last evening during middle school age group football practices there was a man that attempted to communicate with teenage sibling and a mother of some of our 8th grade players to see if they were alone. Then later in the evening when it was dark that same man approached younger siblings of other players practicing trying to get them to his car. Fortunately the mother that was being followed and bothered earlier, saw his attempts and had called the Gwinnett Police Department about this man’s suspicious behavior and they arrested the man before he could leave Bay Creek Park with a 9 year old football player from Grayson that did not know him.
Charges were pressed by the parents and the others that were approached are coming forward also. Turns out there were 4 separate instances where he tried to make contact and potentially abduct children or women at our park that day.
GAA Executive Board and Board of Directors along with Gwinnett Parks and Recreation will be following up on the Gwinnett Police Investigation but we ask that Parents stay vigilant at all times. This is a reminder that this can happen anywhere and by anyone, as it almost did last night at our own Park.
