Lovely Luna Searching for a Home of Her Own
Though totally deaf, she would make an ideal pet for a family or for someone who is single or retired.
Luna is a beautiful Catahoula mix female who is approximately 7 years old. Luna was adopted when she was around the age of one. Her owner loved and adored her for six wonderful years. Then, due to circumstances beyond the owner’s control, Luna's owner had to go into a nursing home and was unable to take Luna with her.
Luna was left without a loving owner, a home of her own, and without the love she had depended on for so many years. That's when Miss Luna became an "Angel's Rescue."
Luna has the most beautiful crystal blue eyes that will just melt your heart once she looks at you with the most loving gaze. Unfortunately, something that often accompanies those gorgeous blue eyes like Luna has is deafness and Luna does happen to be deaf.
In her daily life, Luna functions just like any other dog - her deafness does not hold her back in any way. She follows hand signals for commands like: sit, down, stay, come, good dog, ball, where’s the ball, and get the ball.
She may be seven years old, but she has lots of energy when it’s time to play, but is mature enough to know when it’s time to snuggle up with you and be quiet.
She's past those "puppy years" but still has so much love and devotion to give to a forever family. Her two favorite things in the world are: getting loved on (she can never have too many belly rubs or sit quite close enough to you) and playing "fetch" with her tennis balls.
She can jump and catch like a pro, practically flipping over backwards to get the ball. She will bring it back and always finds the spot on your lap where the ball will balance until you pick it up and throw it again. She will play fetch inside or out and whether you throw the ball five feet or 50 feet, she isn’t very picky - she just wants you to throw it!
She will chew up stuffed dog toys, so she shouldn’t have them, but Luna prefers her tennis balls, anyway. Luna doesn’t bark much, but she does "snore," and it’s adorable!
She is good with cats and is fine with other dogs, but prefers to get all of the attention, so we think Luna would be best as an "only" dog in the household. She can be possessive over toys, especially her tennis balls.
Due to her disability and her dominant personality, she would need to be the only alpha dog in the home. She is great with kids of all ages; in fact, she has never met a person she didn’t love - big or small, young or old, on two legs or in a wheelchair - Luna simply loves everyone!
Luna would be great with a growing family, or with someone who is single, or retired. She is able to be by herself all day while someone is at work, but she would love for her human to be with her most of the day. She will happily sit quietly under a desk while someone works from a home office.
In Luna’s ideal home, she will be the only dog, so she always gets all of the attention (having a cat around wouldn’t bother her at all). She will require a fenced yard (since she is deaf she will need to be leashed or in a secure yard at all times) so she can play fetch with her persons.
Luna would love to have someone who would let her share his or her bed, but understands if she has to sleep in a dog bed on the floor, instead. Most importantly, she dreams of an endless supply of tennis balls and tummy rubs!
Luna is spayed, micro-chipped is up-to-date on all her shots and is immediately available for adoption. She is completely house-trained but is not crate-trained, since she is not a chewer (except stuffed toys).
