Blue Devils Now No. 3 in National Football Ranking

Norcross High defeated Lovejoy High 21-14 in the state finals to win its first state championship since 1957 when the school began playing varsity football.

Since last week's Class AAAAAA title win, Norcross High has earned another token of recognition.

The Blue Devils have been named the country's new No. 3 team in the Xcellent 25 National Football Rankings presented by the Army National Guard, according to MaxPreps. Norcross was ranked No. 8 before.

"The Gwinnett County squad has an impressive list of victories that includes North Gwinnett, Camden County and Colquitt County," says the news site.

The Blue Devils was beat in the rankings by Louisiana's Curtis High School (14-0), the Class 2A state champion who earned the No. 1 slot, and Texas' Katy High at No. 2.

Last Saturday, Norcross High defeated Lovejoy High 21-14 at the Georgia Dome in the state finals. It's the Blue Devils' first state championship appearance and title win since the team's debut in 1957.
