In a Special Called Meeting that was held Tuesday (June 17) at the Hilton Atlanta hotel, Peachtree Corners City Council voted 6-1 in favor of adopting the 2012 millage rate for the new city at .85 mils.

Council member Alex Wright cast the lone vote against the proposed millage rate. Wright had also voted against the $2.7 million budget which he felt was too high. Tuesday night's vote, which passed, was to amend the original proposed 1 millage rate to .85 mils.

The meeting also included a Public Hearing for anyone wishing to speak out on the city's millage rate, however no one came forward.

In Old Business the proposal to adopt an amended ordinance on an Intergovernmental Agreement with Gwinnett County was tabled for the third time. (It was also tabled on July 12 and July 16).

Acting City Attorney Bill Riley said "the county is reviewing the agreement" and expects to have something back to present to the council soon, possibly at its next meeting.

The council also tabled approving the revised agreement between Pond & Co., the company that will provide Community Development Liaison Services. (This item had also been tabled at the July 16 meeting.)

City Consultant John Kachmar said he and Riley are working with the company on the modifications the city has requested. Riley said the agreement should be ready to present to the council at the next meeting.

In the City Council's next meeting, to be held Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. at the Fowler YMCA, the council will be presented with Zoning and Sign ordinances for review.

The ordinances will be posted on the city's website by the close of business day  Thursday, July 19 for review prior to the next meeting. A Public Hearing on the ordinances will also be held at next Tuesday's meeting.

All council members were present along with approximately 12 residents. The meeting lasted approximately 1/2 hour, then the council adjourned for executive session to discuss a pending litigation matter.
