Lasseter Plans To Leave Gwinnett BOC for Health Reasons
The District 1 representative says she will not seek re-election this year.
There will be at least one new member on the Gwinnett Board of Commissioners in 2013, as District 1 Commissioner Shirley Lasseter plans not to seek re-election for health reasons.
Lasseter's district includes Duluth and Suwanee.
"I had been considering it for a while because of my health and I had been in the hospital twice in the past year," Lasseter told Patch on Monday evening.
Lasseter is a former Duluth mayor who is in her first term as BOC commissioner.
Announced candidates are both from Suwanee: Jace Brooks has been on the Suwanee City Council since 2002, and CPA Laurie McClain participated in the recent Gwinnett BOC budget discussions.
Formal qualifying for BOC posts comes in May.
