Murphy Raises More Funds in GCPS Re-Election Bid

The District III incumbent faces a challenge from Democrat Jen Falk in November.

 

Gwinnett school board member Dr. Mary Kay Murphy, whose district includes seven Peachtree Corners schools, has raised additional funds in her bid for re-election.

In her latest campaign finance filing with state officials, Murphy lists cash contributions from former Gwinnett BOC Chairman Wayne Hill ($250), and the re-election campaign of state Sen. Fran Millar ($250).

Murphy, a Peachtree Corners resident, represents District III on the GCPS school board. The district includes Norcross and Duluth high schools, Pinckneyville and Duluth middle schools and Peachtree, Simpson and Berkeley Lake elementary schools.

Murphy faces a re-election challenge in November from Democrat Jen Falk of Berkeley Lake, who is running as a Democrat.

Other contributors to Murphy's campaign include Duluth community activist Mary Root ($200), and Brand Mortgage Group LLC ($250).

To date, Murphy lists total contributions of $6,379. This includes contributions of less than $100, which do not have to be disclosed to state officials.

PTC Concerns

The worst thing that could happen to GCPS would be for Dr. Murphy to be re-elected. She has been in power for too long and needs to step aside and allow new voices. For that matter the entire school board needs to be turned over. If you have ever interacted with her you know that she is a true politician with no real substance. Ask a question...get 10 min of talk and no answer. Dr. Murphy is simply another "Yes Man" for the school board. She offers no real solutions as the schools over flow with students. Please get out there and vote for Jen Falk on Nov 6. If you are put off by the fact that she is running on the democratic ticket take heart in the fact that she is actually a republican (this was the best way for her to get on the ballot) and more importantly a parent with kids in our public school system and is actually concerned about the future of our community.

There should be term limits on this office as well as others. If no term limits then do not vote for the one with (I) next to their name. She has not done much for the citizens as PTC Corcerns has well stated.
