Arts Festival Coming to Peachtree Corners This Fall
The inaugural Peachtree Corners Arts Fest is slated for Saturday, Oct. 13 and will feature artists booths, kids rides, food and entertainment.
Each fall a bevy of festivals are held in surrounding towns, now there will be one more to add to your calendar -- this one to be held in the new City of Peachtree Corners. On Saturday, Oct. 13 the inaugural Peachtree Corners Arts Fest kicks off.
Event organizer Jay Lowe, and his company, Peachtree Corners Events, has already secured the location and reached out to artists and other vendors for the fall event.
Lowe said he's is excited about the festival which he sees as an opportunity to get the community out to enjoy the work of area artists - and to also bring more recognition for the county's newest city.
"It's an attractive area for a festival," said Lowe who added the arts fest will have room to accommodate 300 booths. The new event will take place on a section of Jay Bird Alley between Crooked Creek and the Walgreens near S.R. 141 which will be closed to traffic that day.
Free parking has been secured surrounding the festival site. Lowe said that area residents will not be inconvenienced as the festival does not affect any of the homes in the area. "No residential neighborhoods back up to the festival site," he said.
The Peachtree Corners Arts Fest will not only have artists booths, but also include food, inflatable rides for the kids and entertainment. Visit the website for more details.
Lowe, who also owns Spincycle, a sports marketing company which he founded in 2002, is hoping his new company, Peachtree Corners Events, can help brand the new city.
"I have a true vested interest in this city," said Lowe, a long time resident of Peachtree Corners.
Lowe also is a City Council member, which caused some raised eyebrows when he first set up his new company that he wants to use to bring awareness to the city. Some wondered allowed if it wasn't a conflict of interest.
"Mr. Lowe is an entrepreneur and is entitled to [start a business to promote the city] just like anyone else," said the city's attorney, Bill Riley who said there is no conflict of interest.
A statement on the FAQ portion of the Peachtree Corners Event website states that his company is not affiliated with the city. Lowe said he wanted to ensure there were no misunderstanding.
Lowe has also planned two other events to take place in the city, A Taste of Peachtree Corners, scheduled for Saturday, May 11, 2013 and Peachtree Corners BBQ Fest in the fall of 2013.
If you're interested in participating in the festival as a vendor or to volunteer, you'll find more details on the three events on the Peachtree Corners Events website.

This is great news. I always have a great time at the Norcross festival and this looks to be equally as fun. I put together a Norcross video compilation last year: http://youtu.be/SqpqA6vCrbw
