In my opinion they do not want the public there. They allow no time for public comment, they schedule it on a holiday at 5pm and they give very little notice. This is so disappointing but unfortunatly I wish I could say I was surprised. The Mayor and Council ignored each resident that spoke out against the budget and they seem to want to run the City the way they see fit without concern to what the citizens want.

Well, I guess we get to hold them accountable during the next election and vote them out. That's one of the advantages of having a city. These are our neighbors. They wouldn't do any land deals behind our backs like the county. Oh wait.

Are you using this accusation against those who don't want apartments across from The Forum? Care to show me your degree in Urban Planning and Infrastructure? And I don't even live in Peachtree Corners. Just interested in quality of life in the general area and boosting property values and to keep out those who would do otherwise.

"Racist"has no meaning anymore. It gets thrown out anytime anyone disagrees with something. Its not even used in the correct context anymore.

It does seem like the process easily locks out their constituents, especially anyone who might disagree with them!

Btw, if it is the land across from The Forum, can someone tell me the elementary school these kids, if any would go to? Peachtree is overcrowded and I believe Simpson would be upset adding "apartment kids" to their roster, even though they are under capacity.

@Mama, earlier articles about the property across from the Forum indicated Simpson. I personally have not verified that by looking at the cluster maps on the Gwinnett County Public Schools website. I'm sure that possibility is creating a great deal of angst amongst the Simpson parents.

The property across from the Forum is in the Simpson Elementary School district, GCPS headquarters confirmed the information.

I bet Simpson folks are squirming. Apts would totally mess up their demographics and ruin their white middle class rosters . Why is it that Peachtree is overcrowded with almost 1700 kids and trailers and Simpson is under capacity?

They voted to buy it. Get out your check books. Let's say there are 22,000 voters and 11,000 households. To buy the said property for $10-12 million and build a city hall for say $30-40 million how much is each household responsible?
