Norcross HS Student Shot, Killed During Break-In

Six people are charged with the murder of 15-year-old Norcross resident Nicholas Jackson, II.

 

An incident on the 300 block Autry Street in downtown Norcross Thursday night has resulted in the death of 15-year-old Nicholas Jackson II, according to Cpt. Brian Harr of the Norcross Police Dept.

Police responded to a call of burglary in progress at 6:30 p.m. on Autry Street and discovered that a teen had been shot. He was transported to a hospital where he later died.

Jackson was a freshman at Norcross High School. His sister, Nikia, was also home at the time, but was not injured, according to a report from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. She said that the men broke into the house and went straight to Jackson's room. 

"A number of people are being questioned who are not related to the house," said Cpt. Harr last night. Police were were able to get a description of the people and vehicles involved in the incident, then located those individuals a "short distance" from the scene, he later said.

The following individuals have been arrested for murder and burglary, according to jail records: Anthony Bernard Lumpkin, 32, Douglasville; Rico Dehaven West, 19, Atlanta; Eddie Lewis Green, 46, Atlanta; Jason Dozier, 36, Lithonia; Michael Davis, 23, College Park; and Timothy Lamar Johnson, 34, Atlanta. They are being held at the Gwinnett County Detention Center. 

Police asked residents to avoid the area Thursday night. As of 9:50 p.m., the street was closed. "There is no immediate threat to the residents in that area at this time," wrote Cpt. Brian Harr in a message. Several people reported being stopped or followed by police. 

Norcross PD worked closely with the GBI and the Gwinnett District Attorney's Office in this case, according to a release from Harr Friday morning.
