Superstar Usher's 11-year-old Stepson Critically Injured in Boating Accident

The boy was riding in an inner tube on Lake Lanier when hit by a man driving a jet ski.

The stepson of superstar entertainer Usher is in critical condition following a collision at Lake Lanier on Friday afternoon, according to media reports.

Kyle Glover, 11, and a 15-year-old girl were being pulled in inner tubes by a boat when they were hit by a man piloting a jet ski. The children were life-flighted to Children's Healthcare at Egleston Hospital, according to 11alive.com. The entertainment website TMZ.com cited a source as saying Glover remains unresponsive and is in critical condition. The accident happened on the south end of the lake near Van Pugh Park, according to reports.

A Department of Natural Resources spokesperson said it is too early to tell if any charges will be filed, and that alcohol was not a factor in the accident.

Glover is the son of Usher's estranged wife Tameka Foster. The entertainer, an Atlanta-area resident, reportedly chartered a plane for Foster to be by her son's side.

AJC.com reported that the DNR said the man on the personal watercraft and the children tubing were part of the same group on an outing at the lake.

This incident comes just three days after the funeral for the Prince brothers of Buford, who were killed in a Lake Lanier boating collision in June. Also in June, a youth almost lost his leg in an accident involving a boat propeller.

Several of Usher's associates in the entertainment world have taken to social media for support.

Music mogul Russell Simmons said on Twitter, "Praying that Usher and Tameka's son is OK..."

i am so tired of seeing that people supposedly are "showing support" on twitter. it is impersonal and no more time consuming than my comments here. it is the least amount of effort and draws attention only to one;s self. reporting that someone tweeted should be embarrassing for the writer of this piece. tweeting support is about as tacky as leaving a one cent tip...

Somthing is not right!! How many times does this have to happen before someone changes the way they operate these water toys. There should be an investigation on how many times this has happened already this year. God be with those children.

So horrible. My prayers go out to the children and their families. I have seen too many irresponsible people drive jet ski's and boats. Too many people have no idea what the marina/dock rules are and some just don't care. They're too involved with themselves. This is such a tragic accident.
