Who Would You Choose for a 2016 Presidential Dream Team?

Even though the 2012 elections are right around the corner, candidates are already looking at 2016.

With all the negative publicity both presidential candidates are receiving, many Repubicans and Democrats seem less than eager to vote in the coming elections. The phrase "lesser of two evils" is heard often.

Ignoring present elections and who may or may not be the incumbent in 2016, who would you choose as the 2016 dream team? Who would you nominate for president, vice-president, secretary of state, secretary of defense?

Would you choose a familiar face, like Sarah Palin, Paul Ryan or Hillary Clinton for president? Or someone new? The New York Times offers some thoughts on possible democratic candidates, including Clinton, Massachussetts governor Deval L. Patrick and Chicago's Rahm Emanuel.

Tell us your choice in the comment section!

No question Obama and Biden are the dream team.Experience and a steady hand on the tiller is what this country needs.Obama is onthe correct path but hindered and hampered by a negative and recalcitrant congress bent on sabotaging his every move for patrician gain. For example one million jobs could have been created if the Republican congress had passed the president's jobs He understands that to keep this country moving we need education, infrastructure investment, research & development ,a rational immigration policy, and a balance in regulations & law. These are the five things that our parents and grandparents invested in before the perversions of trickle down economics(Reagan) and of you can have it all without paying(Bush) .Something that Reagan and especially Bush failed to understand. The Republican strategy offers no hope. Indeed their cynical election tactics proves my point. They will create voter frustration with massive negative ads, voter suppression laws, appealing to the white male "DixieRepublicans" with veiled racists remarks and suggestions. One day this group will wise up to the fact that their interests are not served well by the Republican party. But until then you can read their comments. I will savor a Democratic victory in the fall.

There you go again George with Obama's jobs bill. See, this is why no one ever takes your input serious. You say the same things over and over. So I will say this again (over), Obama never intended to get that bill passed and that's exactly why he included over $400 billion more for him to squander. You always fail to mention that the democrats didn't like that bill either.
If Obama wins in the Fall, it may be considered a victory by the democrats but it certainly will be no victory for the future of America.

Obama Biden had a super majority their first 2 years and still barely passed health care, so the "poor President couldn't do it because of the mean ole Republicans" whining is only believed by the most gulible. Be careful of liberalism in this town. Democrats have historically made the largest defense cuts. Liberals were the ones spitting on soldiers returning from Vietnam. The last Dem President (Clinton) stated, "A lot of wonderful people love their country and hate soldiers". So if you enjoy the financial benefits of Ft Bragg or get a check from the DoD or VA, don't talk as if liberals or leftist democrats had anything to do with Fayetteville and Jacksonville having the first and second highest per capita incomes in the state. If they had their way, the entire military would be part-time. Get a clue and a fact.

What experience do either of them offer? None. Congress is trying to slow him down because all his ideas are socialist one and this is a capitalist country. Wasn't his stimulus suppose to decrease the unemployment down around 5-6% & we're no where near that. Regulations are what is hindering the hiring of people. Regulations are just another cash cow for the government. We are the easiest nation to get into in the world with our immigration policies yet people still come here illegally & get rewarded with welfare healthcare & a drivers licence. Not to mention flooding the American work force with illegals who take the money they make illegally and send it back home to their home country thus lowering America's assests.

BD- I tend to agree with you on that as Condi Rice has sooooo much actual experience with foreign policy. She won't though. She's made it clear that she won't run. And why should she? The left would crucify her nad her family. Terrible climate we live in these days. Sad, too. You can't get a decent person because of the persecution they and their families would have to put up with. I'd like to see Rubio run when he's moe seasoned. I think he has tons of potential.

Did George say something? Oh, never mind. Scroll on. And to Brian, you'd be surprised at the Republicans that have no problem with a person being fiscally conservative, but socially liberal. There are more conservatives out there that can see two sides and weigh the two and make a decision on who would be the best person for the job overall. Just as you have bluedog democrats (that you liberals have a hard time acknowleging). So many times you all blame republicans for blocking things when you had a buttload of bluedogs standing with them. The difference is that we acknowlege ours. I have a feeling you just don't talk to your opposition very much in order to get a more balanced view. I have yet to meet a conservative who would not vote for her. Polling also bore this out a while back when we were looking for a candidate. You also forget, Brian, that the religious right had a hand in putting Obama in office. That kind of proves a point there as well.

The Republican Party may cease to exist except in the south. The only candidates they have in the stable are too right-wing for the rest of the country. The demographics are working against them. The party has been taken over by the so called tea partiers ( astro turf as opposed to real grass roots) that are primarily funded by right-wing lobbyists groups like Freedom Works and ALEC(American Legislative Executive Council). If the average southern white male would ever wake up to the fact that Republicans don't really have their interests at heart and are nothing but plutocrats working against their interests than they would lose the south.

Some reading for George. I actually read it, so in order to reply, you should be able to quote it in part. You seem to have this obsession about white, male republicans. I'd almost call that racist, but I won't. Just ignorance. Here's some reading that I'm sure you haven't considered. Many articles have been written by blacks regarding the TEA party and what it stands for. They seem to have aproblem with people who paint with a broad brush. But read for yourself.
The ROOT, by the way, is a black publication.

Some quotes from the lady that wrote the article in the ROOT. She gets it.

"We have debated many times on op-ed pages around the country and on TV as pundits whether it is appropriate for us as black people to criticize the nation's first black president. My position as a journalist and commentator has always been that we should support our nation's presidents when they are correct and question them vigorously when they are not -- regardless of their color or political party affiliation."

A 2009 New York Times op-ed titled ''The Recession's Racial Divide'' by Barbara Ehrenreich and Dedrick Muhammad began by asking the question, ''What do you get when you combine the worst economic downturn since the Depression with the first black president? A surge of white racial resentment, loosely disguised as a populist revolt.'' I think that in part their conclusion about the Tea Party may miss the larger issues of why the Tea Party exists in the first place. This is something black Americans need to consider carefully. To narrow it all down to race is a straw man that we should not buy into.

I agree with this lady and there are many more like her out there.

I can't recall any recent votes where bluedogs have made a difference. What these "anti-communists" fail to grasp is the fact that the closest thing to a centrally-planned economy is one in which the resources are concentrated in the hands of a few big, virtually unregulated corporations, who can now control our government, thanks to Citizens United. The similarities between corrupted economic systems are striking, always with a ruling party who lives above the masses. The main difference is in whether the ruling party is overt, or covert. Think Swiss bank accounts, Cayman Islands, and undisclosed donors to big Advocacy Groups and 527's. The communist party you are terrified of is the very right-wing party you are supporting.

The Republicans have done a good propaganda job of building the myth of Reagan.Federal spending grew by an average of 2.5 percent a year, adjusted for inflation, while Reagan was president. The national debt exploded, increasing from about $700 billion to nearly $3 trillion. Many experts believe that Reagan's massive deficits not only worsened the recession of the early 1990s but doomed his successor, George H.W. Bush, to a one-term presidency by forcing him to abandon his "no new taxes" pledge.
The number of federal employees grew from 2.8 million to 3 million under Reagan, in large part because of his buildup at the Pentagon. (It took the Democratic administration of President Bill Clinton to trim the employee rolls back to 2.7 million.) Reagan also abandoned a campaign pledge to get rid of two Cabinet agencies - Energy and Education - and added a new one, Veterans Affairs

Andrew S, have you ever read any books by Michael Youssef? He has a book that he wrote in 1981, and it is very prophetically erie. He was raised a muslim in a muslim country and says that one of the tenets of muslim takeover is that if you can't take it by sword, take it by deception. He said that in olden days, when they took over a small country they would tax them so high that when they couldn't pay taxes, they would be forced to convert or die. I'm not saying bho is a muslim per se, but he was raised in the area and grew up around that type of thought. Even his mother was radical in thought, so being here wouldn't have made much difference. He also made the comment in his book (Dreams from my father) that he'd like to see us taxed 100%. How can people sleep through this??

You two honestly believe the President of the United States, Barack Obama, is a covert muslim whose intention is to overthrow the country by raising taxes in the name of Allah? Really? And "liberals" are too brainwashed to see this happening? Do you honestly believe what you're saying? I have to say it is some of the most creative, illogical, eugenics propaganda I have ever heard. What is it about our president that makes people like you two concoct these bizarre conspiracy theories? It couldn't simply be that he's a Christian Ameircan legally elected to the office of president who has intentions of helping his fellow Americans through means you personally disagree with, could it? No, that's too simple. That's what he wants us to think. A more logical reality is that he's a foreigner whose masterminds planted birth announcements in American newspapers fifty years ago, along with a birth certificate, a childhood spent with an American mother and grandparents, 40+ years of life in America, an Ivy League education and 20+ years of Christian church attendance all in an effort to "destroy" America for his Muslim roots that cosist of a father he met twice. That's more likely. Nothing crazy about that scenario.

My dream team would be first, dissolve party names and lines. Let us vote on the best person, not party. For as names we are the people of the United States! This country needs prayer! The cost of freedom or greed is the the base line of politics!

I so agree with you there Evelyn. The strength of both the Democratic and Republican Party has now totally stripped away our ability to look at the man or woman instead of the Party. Once you like just one issue with a candidate and begin to do research, you get sucked into all the propaganda and can no longer see anything outside of the Party. And each party goes to so much trouble to destroy the opposition.

RE: "...you get sucked into all the propaganda and can no longer see anything outside of the Party."

Sharon,

Gallup recently reported that "Americans' distrust in the media hit a new high this year, with 60% saying they have little or no trust in the mass media to report the news fully, accurately, and fairly." http://www.gallup.com/poll/157589/distrust-media-hits-new-high.aspx

There are probably several reasons for such distrust, but I'm quite sure that one of the reasons is this fetish that many the media has with the "both sides do it" meme. Some of us form an opinion on the issues of the day and fight for those who will execute our views. The suggestion that all of us, left or right, are "sucked into the propaganda and can no longer see anything outside the Party" is both insulting and lazy.

RE: "It is just sad to see that so many people, once they convert to one side or the other, can't see anything good in the other side. We are all supposed to be Americans first, but right now and it appears that we are all a Party first."

With all due respect, Sharon, you're doing it again. I know that you don't intend to be mean-spirited, but it is also insulting to generalize that we were all "converted."

In addition, by arguing for policies to combat climate change, many of us believe that we are putting America first. By fighting to protect Medicare, Social Security, and Medicaid benefits, many of us believe that we are putting America first. When advocating that we should bring our troops home from Afghanistan sooner rather than later, or to give sanctions a chance to work in Iran, many of us believe that we are putting America first.

I was never "converted to one side." I don't form opinions because it is a "D" position or "R" position. I educate myself, and support and vote for those who agree with me. There are millions who do the same.

Such "Party first" generalizations falsely imply that everybody is always wrong, nobody is ever right, or that the answer is always somewhere in between. Party A says the earth is flat. Party B says the earth is round. Why can't both parties stop arguing about it and put America first? I beg you: Enough with the false equivalencies.

Reasons why people lean toward one party or the other:

Pro-choice or you believe abortion is baby killing.

Pro-environment or you're for letting the corporations ruin it as long as they provide jobs.

Pro-government if it helps the poor or anti-government because it runs up debt.

Pro-corporation or pro-regulation of corporations.

Pro-education or pro-war - or both and then we have severe debts...

Pro-war or pro-peace.

Pro-religion in schools or leave it at home or in churches=pro-tolerance.

Don't care if your candidate sexually harasses women or Do care if your candidate sexually harasses women.

AM, this is the way you look at a lot of these issues, but you're looking at them from your side. I can do the same thing.

Pro choice and believe that a woman's body is her own business, and that any baby that gets mutilated, killed and removed is purely the cost of defending women's rights, or you believe that killing babies is bad.

Anti-corporate and believe it's your job to defend the environment against business, or business would be able to self-regulate and would do what would be best in its own interest, which would include answering to customers with respect to media coverage of pollution.

The poor and debt thing is pretty close. However, no conservative I know is against helping the poor, just like no really sane liberal I know wants to run up our debt willy-nilly. Conservatives just choose to help those that are either unable to help themselves or those that are willing to help themselves, not the moochers. Of which we have a significatn portion.

I'm not pro-corporation. I'm pro-free market. There's a difference. I don't believe in corporatism which, I'm sure you would find, is the same stance as most other conservatives. Truth be told, I would have to assume a huge majority of conservatives. This has also to do with the idea of corporate personhood. They pay income taxes. They should have some say. Just like unions.....

The next one is kind of silly. No Republican or Conservative is anti-education. Some of us just don't think it's the federal government's place (it isn't - check your Constitution) to educate children. Although I will agree with you on the war thing...but that seems to be both sides. And since Bammy was dead set against wars before he got into office and continued them and even started a few of his own, he must have been privy to some information that changed his mind. Just sayin....

Peace through superior firepower. Again, just sayin....

Neither side is the side of tolerance. Although I will agree that any government-led religion is bad and against everything the founders stood for.

Sexual harrassment - missing this one. We have a past president that diddled other women in the white house and them lied under oath about it. I'm assuming you're talking about Herman. He gets accused of sexual harrassment by women that, conveniently, all have ties to the Democratic party, and all come from the same 4 years of his life - nothing from before or after. Yeah, I'd say he's clean.....

Im with NJ on this one. It's not that cut and dried. I weight a lot of factors. A lot of them. Many times people have to make concessions for the whole of the decision. Anybody can say they are pro- life but are they saying it for political reasons, or do they really believe it? A big picture (personal life, how long ago any discretions happened and did they turn it around, theri voting record etc...) reveals a lot.

@NJ4America: Well, simplification does work best for many....I mean, it's kind of a no brainer for me when you start talking about taking away the public's right to an abortion. Does it make me terribly sad that people want abortions? Does it gross me out? Do I think the baby vacuum is bad for women and children? Sure, sure, and sure. But when I see people suffering in ignorance and poverty, I certainly don't want to force to drag others down with them. Every child should be a wanted child. The pro-regulation of corporation is kind of a no brainer for me as well. Corporations are out to make a profit, pure and simple. That is their objective. Therefore, they are not concerned with harming the environment, hurting local businesses, driving down wages, or taking care of workers for the long haul. They are not concerned with children, the unemployed, the disabled, veterans affected by PTSD, or those who are undereducated. Therefore, I do not want their weight to disproportionately affect my legislators. Pro-war after 9/11? I think even the least scholarly will agree that it was downright irresponsible and a cover to declare war on Iraq. Al queda wasn't even in Iraq - and I don't have to be a historian to get that. So for all of the nuts screaming about Obama and the terrorist Muslims and Obama's "apology for America," get it straight. I have just read all your words & never before have I read such foul ideas, meanness, & just plain trashing others. Your logic is questionable & your hate is evident. Your need to verbally abuse others begs the question as to WHY you feel the need to abuse. This is a venue for ideas not abuse. This is a place to exchange ideas not a place to hatefully attack those who have different views. This is a place of free speech not a place to attack those whom speak up. Reread your post. When you choose to hate, others choose to ignore you. As for our future with Obama, I have met some in my life that have the ability to see the future clearer other than others. I believe it is because they are readers of history, they study the past, they can see when the past repeating itself. Yet, when some bring up an aspect of the future, that they have seen in the past, many call it foolishness. To know the past is to not repeat it. To ignore the past is to repeat the past. I have a muslim friend. He will tell you that it is absolutely the truth that "deception" is a justifiable tool in the Muslim religion. You just demonized millions of Americans and a billion or two people, give or take, throughout the world. Islam is the world's second largest religion and is one of our sister faiths (along side Judaism), as its origins can also be traced back to Abraham.

I have known several Muslims from all over the world, all of whom are wonderful people who have more in common with you and me than you can ever imagine. No, deception is not justifiable in Islam...or in any other major world religion.

You (and I) simply stated what we were told. No personal judgements (although those that accuse you of it do it so much that they can't see their ownselves in the mirror). If I said that Baptists believe in baptism by immersion and Methodists believe in sprinkling, does that mean I'm bad-mouthing them? According to CJ's logic. People are so politically correct that they fumble with the truth. We have enemies abroad and need to be viligent at all times. Our enemies know us. “We had patience in our fighting with the Soviet Union with simple weapons for 10 years. We exhausted their economy, so they disappeared. We will not abandon our fight until the weapons run out." Osama Bin Laden

Excerpt from Letter to the US from Osama Bin Laden:
The first thing that we are calling you to is Islam...If the Americans do not respond, then their fate will be that of the Soviets who fled from Afghanistan to deal with their military defeat, political breakup, ideological downfall, and economic bankruptcy.
Acquiring weapons for the defense of Muslims is a religious duty. If I have indeed acquired these weapons, then I thank God for enabling me to do so. And if I seek to acquire these weapons, I am carrying out a duty. It would be a sin for Muslims not to try to possess the weapons that would prevent the infidels from inflicting harm on Muslims.

Tammy & R, It is very sad that many just open their mouths ( ie begin typing) without the gift of past history or current information. They will jump around with both feet screaming, "Liar, dark twisted version of reality, ridiculous statement, do you have no shame," when faced with the reality of Islam. I am sorry if you do not believe what I wrote but it is reality in the Muslim world. I guess you have to be "friends" before you are considered trust worthy enough to be told the truth about their religion. CJ, you are correct, they are wonderful family friends. They take care of their children, are very hard working, have high expectations, & are respectful to each other. But make no mistake they are the second largest religion & will not rest until their have taken over the number one position as their faith teaches. Look at the cities with the highest concentration of Muslims & check the facts about how healthy that city is. Poverty is a powerful conversion tool. To just say "it is not true" is to stick you head in the sand. Deception IS an acceptable tool. It is what it is. Sorry to awaken the minds to all the newbies to this faith. One more thing, I was shocked when he said, "We have been fighting for hundreds of years, so planning an attack for 10 years from now is like the blink of an eye to us! America will tire, we will not!" Here we are 11 years later under attack again. I don't like it any better than any other person but I will not close my eyes.

I just want to point out that Catholics absolutely think that molesting children is allowed in their religion because I read online that one time a priest told a child he was raping that 'This Is What God’s Love Feels Like'.

http://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/Catholic-Churtch-Los-Angeles-Archdiocese-Priests-Accused-Pedophile-Molest-Children-139129294.html

You see because one member of the religion said it, it applies to the entire faith. I am sorry if you do not believe what I wrote but it is reality in the Catholic world. Sorry to awaken the minds to all the newbies to this faith. No religious ignorance or bigotry in my heart, I was just as shocked as you are

Brett:
Michael was satirizing a comment made above that made basically the same claim about the Muslim faith -- that if a few subscribe to an extreme ideology, all in that faith must.

And while we're at it, let's drop the religious bigotry from this discussion. This is a conversation about who you'd like to see run in 2016. It is not a conversation about religion or race. Some of the comments here have skated close to the line, and this thread needs to get back on track.

What's wrong Brett? Denigrating Muslims is acceptable but not Catholics?

Why the double standard?

Do you not represent Muslim constituents as well? Is their faith not worthy of your defense? Or do you believe they are all deceitful followers of a religion looking to take over the world?

I do not know one Catholic that is not angered and sadden by news of the molestation of a child, whether the news came from the Vatican, the coaches at Penn State, the southern baptist church leader Eddie Long, the American Boy Scout Organization or the man down the street! I am always amazed that when a conservation is not going someones way they drop a fire ball topic in since they have not answer to the last post! Michael K!?! Wrong is wrong where ever it rears it sick ugly head. Sick people do sick things. It is everyone's duty to stop wrong where ever it is, not just in a church setting. The boy scouts have said NO to gay leaders, especially in light of the sexual abuse they have been dealing with. Why would you want to join an organization that stands against your own way of life. Why not just start an organization called the Gay Scouts of America? My vote for the next election can not be determined until I see where our country is at that time. Personalities are great but I want a person qualified to do the job. obama has a shinning personality, a wonderful speaking talent, yet he has no hands on ability to lead this country through our current and upcoming problems & he is lying with statistics every day. He is a failure. Romney is a man with years of success behind him, so what if he does not "connect with the voter" as the left cries out, the voters will connect with his ability to lead our country back to success and back to world leaders once again!

Last side line - just want to tell this to Cynthia, especially since there won't be anyone refuting my facts. My son was in Iraq and fell in love with the Iraqi people. The communities of families love the west, but those in power DON'T. Why do you think the wonderful muslim people want to live here? Because they KNOW what the radicals believe and KNOW that they will carry it out, evidenced by the slaughtering of their own people. They KNOW. My son met and talked to them. They thanked my son for our government for liberating them. One woman, introduced her two sons to my son and said, "Thanks to your government, my sons will not grow up under a dictator". That balances it out for me.

Tammy, Sounds like OBL forgot one thing that the American people, left or right, Bush or obama, we will not forget the innocent killing of those on 911. Let it go forth from this land, to all other lands that wish harm upon the United States of America, that we will with every once of body and strength, fight until the last ounce of our fortitude until those whom wish to harm our great land and our free people are no longer. Wondering what his last thoughts were.........hey, about that Americans being called to become Islam...yeah, that was not what I really meant. can't we all just get along?
Don't mess with the USA unless you can fight the fight. Our military never stopped looking. Our military never forgot. Our military kept the hunt alive. Our military got the job done 10 years later. So much for the greatest military in the world giving up while you continue. RIght may not win every battle but right will be there at the end time. The Constitution requires our government to preserve, protect, and defend the constitution and the citizens of this great country. There was never ANY mention that we pay for solar power projects or for people that won't take care of their own family members. I have a feeling Tammy, that those who are giving the most grief do not even have friends of the Muslim faith or have ever spoken to an American Muslin. So, with that logic, does that mean that our government, Republican and now Democrat run, is correct for leaving veterans without proper mental health and medical services when they return from fighting these noble wars that Cynthia romantically describes? Is it just their bad luck.....should we just expect their families to take care of them after they served their country?

Tammy, it actually doesn't have anything to do with any affiliation with Huffington Post. It's because the Obama camp purchased advertising space, and obviously a lot of it, on Patch. We have all asked, and been told, that the Romney camp has been approached but, as yet anyway, has not purchased any. Our editorial we try and keep as balanced as we can but unfortunately we have no control over who purchases advertising.

RE: " You people voted for Obama, continue to cheer for Obama and in the end you will be responsible for Obama."

As one who voted for Obama, I too will happily take credit for taking us from job losses to job growth, record highs on the stock market, saving the American automotive industry, health care reform that adds protections for all of us and increases access to quality care for millions, expanded coverage for seniors while extending the life of Medicare, pulling troops out of Iraq, negotiating and passing the START Treaty to reduce our outdated and bloated nuclear arsenals, ending Don't Ask Don't Tell, passing pay equity legislation for women, saving a major Libyan city population from becoming the victims of genocide, killing bin Laden, and beginning to wind the war down in Afghanistan (McCain wanted to stay indefinitely). Seriously, the list goes on and on.

Nobody is claiming that President Obama is perfect; no president is. But he was a hell of a lot better than the alternative in 2008 and he is a hell of a lot better than the alternative in 2012.

@Chris:.......and if you are arguing that Obama has ? damaged our country ? I would argue that it has been substantially damaged by "W". It's like all the Republicans are bees without a queen since "W" has been demoted. There's no good Republican leader, the last one is out of office, so it's best just to get on a "hate Obama/hate Muslims bandwagon." The Middle East is without a doubt a volatile area. That's why we're still there. We went in and stirred the pot in a very hostile, chaotic area, and now we've affected present and future generations with over a hundred thousand deaths as well as decimated cities......so now we've got to continue to spend money we don't have to "finish the job" - if such a thing even does exist. So, the mindless drones just start buzzing and buzzing about social programs, when all the time the biggest problem is these very complicated wars that were started before Obama even took office. Thank you Jesus for Obama taking office instead of the dazed and confused McCain and his superficial environment plunderer....I really mean it....thank you Jesus. We will continue to "hurt" as long as obama continues to give fed printed, non backed, China bought, money to banks and 'solar' companies to save our economy! GM would have figured it out. The banks would have come back. The American spirit would have raised us up once again but NO we needed our leaders to give billions to their contributors and to failing companies. AM-apparently the quote was from Mr. Obama Sr.
...there is nothing that can stop the government from taxing 100% of income,” Mr. Obama wrote, “so long as the people get benefits from the government commensurate with their income which is taxed.” In the view of Barack Hussein Obama Sr., the right of the individual person to freely work, earn, and invest, meant nothing. All that mattered was the “collective good” of the nation.
My thoughts: Many believe that given the policies of Jr. that they are similar to his father.

The police always show up when they can not bring themselves to answer bold comments so they just say.. Hey now somebody misspelled "bailed." How about the comment from Tammy about taxing 100% of their income? How about an answer to billions given to obama's contributor who ran the solar company that took the $ &just went belly up? How about the banks being bailed out only to reward their stealing staff with the largest bonuses ever! Why don't the liberals offer up their reason why their obama decided to behave in this manner? Why, of course it is easier to say, " HEY, LOOK, SHE SPELLED BAILED wrong!! Got Ya! It is just too easy. People write on the Patch while running out the door, fixing dinner, watching TV, or talking on the phone! So what if they mistype a letter of quickly spell wrong. One major trait is that if they have no answer they tend to; name call, abuse other writers, become grammar cops, bully new commentators, & are just plain mean. They tend to rear their ugly head when they have no answer for facts or strong writers. It is sad but, it is true. Don't believe me, reread this stream & you will see what I mean. Sorry to say, YOU make my point with your very comment. As for cleaning my house, I pay someone for that pleasure. How can I do that? I worked hard & made good investments. I can afford to offer another a job, I am a repub! As for the cooking part, my husband does breakfast except on the weekends. We have lunch out each day to break from the intensity of our day. For dinner it is mostly my show! If it is a Georgia Bulldog afternoon then it is my Dad's "Damn Good Chili" over rice, or hot dogs, or with Scoops! I encourage you liberals to answer for your president . Why did 56 other world leaders came to the UN to solve world issues & your boob tube prezident went on THE VIEW begging for votes! Desperate!?! Gotta be careful quoting those polls, the numbers are often misleading...I checked a few for example:
The Politico poll has Obama +3...but the margin of error is 3.1 and the survey oversampled democrats by 3%...at best, this poll would be a tie and could be Romney +3...
The Pew Research poll has Obama +8...but the margin of error is 2.4 and it oversampled democrats by 7%. Again, likely a tie, possibly Romney up by 1...
The AP poll had Obama +1, MOE 4.3 and it oversampled democrats by 9%. Even if the MOE swung all the way to Obama's favor its still a Romney lead by 5...
Probably shouldnt be baking your humble pies just yet, never know who's going to be eating them...

Please listen to the president of Iran today and notice how he says the world power has shifted. While the man is considered mad by many, he makes a valid point. Yet, I hold the financial inept American people responsible for Obama's clear lead. For example, many now get their news from the comedy talk shows and believe they are real. The 10 time Emmy winning show hosted by John commented yesterday and I thought FINALLY a balanced report as he ragged on Obama for not meeting with any leaders while they were all gathered at the UN. Next, when the host showed a clip of Obams's press secretary stating, "His schedule is very busy and he does not have the time." It has been 20 years since a seated president has done this. "No time" John continued, " What could possibly be more important that meeting with world leaders with; the middle east on fire, nukes so close, Greece failing and so on" Cut to a clip of Obama carrying a basket to the ladies on The View!" Finally the left is also worried about where Obama choices! NOT! John next plays a clip of Romney saying the economy will have a surge if he is elected and John goes off making fun of the comment! Any fool knows that indeed the economy will bump because the 43% of Romney supporters, mostly business owners are holding back because of the anti business climate as there is too much unknown with Obama. To any educated financial person the comment made sense & was an honest account of what will happen, yet John makes fun, waving his arms stating voodoo economics. Sad things is if you don't know economics you believe John's comments. BC, Meetings vs speaking, it is sad, so sad!

Cynthia, Reagan was behind in the polls at this point too and he won by a landslide. I agree with Dick Morris. The real Independent voters wait until the last minute. I think if liberals would admit it, they know that he is simply in campaign mode. "Well, he finally did at 10 this morning!" Well, maybe he did, but he doesn't seem to sit and somberly think on these issues. They are a last minute thing for him. he's worth millions; I just wish he'd realize tht we pay his salary and expect him to work.
OUr Founding Fathers were appalled at being highly taxed- thus, the BostonTEA party. We need to listen to the people who are trying to warn us before it's too late. But then again, people under communism etc... didn't even know it. They didn't wake up one day and there it was...they believed one slick lie after another and put enough agreement to it until it was implemented. The best liars are the ones that look good and sound good, but are evil and self centered in intent because there comes a point where they believe their own lies.

Here's why Romney is down by 8 points in Ohio, a crucial battleground state:

http://www.cnn.com/2012/09/26/politics/romney-ohio/index.html?hpt=hp_t2

There's still time to vote for a winner, ladies. BTW, what policies of Romney's do you agree with when he hasn't stated any?

Correction: Romney's down by 10 in Ohio and 9 in Florida.

"A NYT/Quinnipiac/CBS poll released Wednesday found President Obama has opened up a 10-point lead in Ohio and a 9-point lead in Florida, the latest of several surveys suggesting Mitt Romney continues to lose ground just weeks before the election." --Politico

Sure, these polls are completely meanginless. ROTFLMAO.

NYT/Q/CBS poll:
Ohio- oversample democrats 9%, margin of error 2.9...
Florida- oversample democrats 9%, margin of error 2.8...
Pennsylvania- oversample democrats 11%, margin of error 2.9...
Theres a reason why Obama is campaigning so hard despite the leads in the polls and the electoral counts you have cited- because his campaign looks deeper into the numbers and what they see scares them.

I feel that polls are irrelevant anyway. If one makes their decision based on polls, they may as well just flip a coin. It would be swell if voters would research each candidate and decide for instance if it is important to them that Ryan is an African-American Mormon and may be a good running mate for Obama.

Grant, Are you aware that Obama was highly affected by his father even though he did not see him much after the age of 10 years old. What type of parent drops out of his son's life at the age of ten, forget his father, check out his mother's departure from his life. These two scarred him for life and that is why I believe our Boob Tube Wanta Be Movie Star Prez if for ever seeking acceptance from the public! He is forever going on the TV to get his does of, " I'm OK - Your OK" medicine. DO you know obama wrote a book that spoke about his father? Do you realize that his father had a major impact on his political views and beliefs. Are you aware that you are speaking falsely about this topic. Are you sure you wish to continue to say things that most know are foolish. Please read this book before you continue to offer false facts to the Patch readers. However, I believe it was his preacher that had the biggest impact on his belief system. You remember his preacher, the one that said, God Bless America? NO, GOD Damn America. I really enjoy it when you spout opinion as fact Cynthia,

You write "Obama was highly affected by his father even though he did not see him much after the age of 10 years old"
Now who is spouting falsehoods? It's not that he didnt see him "much" , he saw him ONCE when he was 10 , thats it . Dude gave the boy a basketball and took him to a concert. Ten year old kids really dont have a firm grasp on politics.
It's akin to suggesting that , since Romney's great grandfather was a polygamist Romney supports that sort of thing too . FWIW the leader of Romney's religion and the writer of it's Holy Scripture advocated spreading his religion at the point of a sword...Is that better or worse than an angry out of context quote from a preacher that Obama may well have never heard until someone dug it up

What I find interesting is the simple fact that Obama has been president for nearly 4 years and all you guys care to discuss is some nebulous nonsense regarding people who have been dead from years. Surely there are some real issues that dont require an Indiana Jones expedition to Kenya?
Or is this really all you have? His dad, who he never even knew might have said something one day that painted him as a commie?
I thought it was all about jobs, the economy and the like. You know real ISSUES instead of manufactured nonsense?

On the other hand, Mr Martell's post about the accuracy of polls lacks that hatred and is pretty much correct about how polls are formed. It would be nice if he put up the source of his data, and similar data about, say, the Rasmussen poll. The Faux News polls have the same weaknesses and probably weighted in the same way only for Romney. Today I'm relying on the data from a special sample: Ann Coulter, Republican transgender pundit; if Christie doesn't get in the race, Romney will win the nomination and we will lose the election. Or Bill Kristol, who this Sunday acknowledged that the President has done a good job on the economy.

Lee, the source of my data was the polls that Jeff linked. Feel free to click on his links and read them. I checked Rasmussen yesterday and they had not released all the details of theirs. Incidentally, the last Fox poll I checked was also in Obama's favor and was similarly weighted with an oversampling of democrats. They all seem to be doing it that way- based on turnout numbers from the '08 election they 'assume' similar turnout for this election and weight their sampling accordingly...
For CJ's benefit, I havent suggested it is right, wrong or indifferent...I just thought some folks might be interested in knowing whats behind these numbers. In the end, the only poll that will really matter is on Nov. 6th...

Bob,

Jeff linked to poll data showing that Obama is in the lead. It's true that you have not "suggested" that the polls are wrong; you flat out stated as such.

What's behind the poll numbers which indicate, across the board, that Obama is leading both nationally and in the big swing states? Professional pollsters. Your statement implies that, not one, but every single one of them is either extraordinarily negligent or deliberately skewed to favor Obama (including Fox News and Rasmussen). Again, wishful thinking.

Jeff & Grant, You bring up a subject. We refute your comments as poppy cock. You come back & say the man was not affected by the father or the preacher. Ask any black man that has no father or only saw him once, if he has issues? Do you know what it is like to grow up without a father? Read a book about abandonment issues, then get back to me. About his mother, well all I can say is she made the decision to abandon his as well & went about her "Wonderful" life. Can't see Michelle doing that. Educated black & white men & women take a different view on how & who will raise their children.Help me please, what was so important that miss willy nilly went off & left her child? Once again it is all about name calling when we present widely held facts. I clearly do not understand why a person can not dislike a person for their actions or their political beliefs without BAMB "libbies" calling it hate. Sorry, skin color is not a factor for me! Plus or negative! I did not like Carter's presidency & nobody says I HATE him. I did not like Kennedy & Clinton for being hound dogs & nobody said I hated them. What is it with you "libbies" that if someone does not hold your same views, you label them a "hater?" To believe that a man's ideas are developed in a vacuum is again poppycock! His parents, preacher, professors, friends, family & even his wife do indeed have an affect on his views. Grant, you must be touchy about his past relationships to be so upset with the comment. There is a point to be made about Obama and Bush and the mistakes they share. You didn't make them. By putting Obama equal to Bush, you ruin your own point. For instance, the Obama justice department seems no less corrupt or misguided than Bush's. HLS, CIA, and Justice Dept. need serious oversight and reform. But there is no way Romney is going to do anything. The lack of prosecution of hedge fund owners and Wall Street criminals is in itself, probably criminal, but again, Bush did nothing to stop the damage, weakened regulations, and there is no way Romney will do anything but relax regulations more. Beyond those areas, I don't see it as close. Bush= Romney (who a man in his own campaign calls, "the Etch-O-Scetch candidate: I wish I had made that up) We have a two party democracy. Judged in a vacuum, Democrats and liberals have lots of flaws and failures, but when compared to Conservatives and Republicans, there isn't any contest; wars, recessions, failures at home and abroad are the Republican legacy.

The agreement will result in the U.S. Being under sharia law, but the national language will be Mandarin. Hopefully, by 2015 we will be a Mandarin speaking, socialist, Muslim nation. The new "code" word to use on anyone that DARE to stand up & speak against their King Obuma is now quickly deemed a HATER! OMG LOL LOL LOL! Do you really think anyone fears being called a HATER? Oh No, they have labeled me a HATER! Oh No, now I must sell my house & leave the country because a "Libbie" has called me a HATER! Never mind the fact that they still will not comment on their BOOB TUBE Prez's preferring the loving audience of THE VIEW to the real worries of our country. Never mind he decided to spend the day with 3 of the most manly, obnoxious, & self serving women on television instead of meeting with world leaders. No one on one meetings for our smiling BOOB TUBE, STAR WANA BE Prez. I gladly wear the title HATER. I prefer it to sheep. I prefer it to "libbie." I prefer it to, "she who votes for Obama a second time!" I really prefer it to anything else as long as it is in reference to my not being blinded by a blaming, Hollywood wanabe, 44th man in the White House. YES, I am a hater of poor leadership. I am a hater of bad political decisions. Yes, I am a hater of higher taxes. I am a hater of a president that incites class hate. I am a hater of robbing SS & a hater of lazy leader. I am a hater of the Obama,"Let them eat Cake" mentality. OMG! I am a hater of a man that knew it was a terrorist attack & said it was about a movie! Obama, so much to hate!

I just love yanking the liberal's chains! They are so easy! LOL Problem is they never have any comments on Obama only on grammer (grammar LOL). If they call you a hater and you won't go away, then they are at odds as to what to do with you. I just keep them happy by being grammer (grammar) cops! It really is too much fun. Well, I can not laugh any more tonight as it is getting late. But really men, will not one of you tell me how you felt when you saw your bold BOOB TUBE Prez nixing the UN in favor of the easy questioning from THE VIEW? How did this go down. "Mr President, you have the UN thing this month, whom do you want to meet with?" "Hey man, I don't want to meet with anyone of them!" "Mr. President, it is the meeting of all the world leaders, please Mr President." "Nope, I want to go see those nice ladies on the view because they won't ask me anything hard and they love me!" "I can talk about how I quit smoking and Michelle can talk about how the girls are not getting fat. I can say I draw energy from meeting with the sheep! I won't have to talk about murder, terrorist, war, nukes or even the economy!" "Mr President it is the UN!" "Hey man don't be a HATER!" So sad, so so sad! OMG! Well, men not one of you, no, not even one of you answered any of my questions.... hmmm, guess I am just a HATER who loves her government. Really, men what have you done besides hate on anyone that disses your man? 4 entries for the grammar cops....Ready, Set, Go!

Mitt Romney's campaign is so dead, the Mormons have baptized it.

You must be public school educated Jeff. Try reading the article before you post it. The GOP reported this and filed complaints against the company. They are trying to prevent voter fraud.

You should have known it was wrong since it was MSNBC that made it up. They are far more liberal than Fox News could ever be conservative.

You mean, like the very first paragraph, David?

"The number of Florida counties reporting suspicious voter registration forms connected to Strategic Allied Consulting, the firm hired by the state Republican Party to sign up new voters, has grown to 10, officials said, as local election supervisors continue to search their forms for questionable signatures, addresses or other identifiers."

And later?

“I told my friends in the party then that paying people to do this was a bad idea, and it almost inevitably leads to problems,” Mr. Lux said. “Unfortunately, I was not proven wrong.”

I seem to remember a big stink about voter fraud from the right during the 2008 election, but now that the shoe's on the other foot, nary a peep.

BTW, after my public education, of which I'm proud, I graduated from an elite private university, but one thing I learned there was how not to be an elitist snob.

If you wish to take comments out of context, let me include the important comments:

"After reports of suspicious forms surfaced in Florida, the company — owned by Nathan Sproul, who has been involved in voter registration efforts since at least the 2004 presidential election — was fired last week by the state Republican Party and the Republican National Committee."

"The state Republican Party, which paid the company $1.3 million to register voters here, said it would file an elections fraud complaint against Strategic Allied, which is based in Tempe, Ariz."

Too bad you learned nothing valuable from your elite private university education. Liberal arts school, right? Possibly even Ivy League. It shows.

Yes the Republicans are GUILTY here ...

In following the Democratic footsteps of ACORN. This PROVES that there are idiots on BOTH sides, so there is still room for Bi Partisan policy talks.

All that proves, David, is that the GOP retains plausible denial by outsourcing its dirty work, ala the Plumbers, Blackwater, et. al.

Are you aware that the majority of CEOs are liberal arts majors?

None that I know. All are engineers/scientist.

It only makes sense. Liberal arts majors are generalists who can see the big picture, whereas engineers and scientists have become extremely specialized over the years. IOW, we read more and more broadly. ;-)

Being a generalist may be OK if you're CEO of Wal-Mart or Target. But a specialty company needs a focused approach. And come on, who reads more than a scientist?

Jeff Haas

A writer, perchance?

Most of the scientists I've met are well read in their field but not so much outside their field. The exceptions are the academic scientists, who are highly creative and not bound by the strictures of industry.

But I'd agree that a specialty company needs a focused approach. However, a great techy rarely makes a great leader.

You mean techies like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs?

Jeff Haas

Techies or marketeers? Gates didn't write DOS and stole the idea for Windows from Xerox PARC, and Wozniak was the techy to Jobs' salesmanship.

Lee Iacocca and any of the top design engineers from Chevrolet’s Corvette performance division.

Lee for President - because has a proven history of paying back what he borrowed early, while producing IMPROVED materials / services.

The Corvette guys - because if we HAVE to own GM, at least they can produce something worth owning instead of telling us it always “Runs deep”.

Since they’re being run out of DC by virtue of our common "stake", we already know it runs deep and it’s a waste of ad monies.

Pay more than your fair share today and get a vette!
