Dr. Mary Kay Murphy, Louise Radloff, and Carole Boyce were sworn in as duly re-elected members of the Gwinnett County Board of Education this afternoon by Gwinnett County Probate Judge Walter J. Clarke. The brief ceremony took place at the GCPS Instructional Support Center on Old Peachtree Road in Suwanee. Then, it was business as usual as the members of the school board began work on the loaded monthly work session agenda.

Board Chairman Louise Radloff has served the citizens of District 5 on the Gwinnett County School Board since January 1973. Dr. Mary Kay Murphy of District 3 has served on the school board since January 1997. Carole Boyce has served the citizens of District 1 since January 2005. All were re-elected to four-year terms in the November general election. All had opponents in the election.

Voters apparently did not want to rock the boat that has brought such success to our Gwinnett public schools and four charter schools as evidenced by the Broad Prize in 2010 for the best urban school system in the nation.
