SCRATCH THE SURFACE---Collaging with Texture

One day workshop – February 16, 2013
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  (we will work through lunch, so bring a sack lunch)

Cost:  $100 (deposit of $50 (non-refundable after Feb. 4th) due upon registration; balance due on day of class). 

Design principles dictate that texture adds interest, whether it is decorating a room, or creating art.  It is especially true with collage.  Just as contrasting colors along with varying values of light and dark add impact, likewise smooth and rough surfaces make for a more complex and appealing work of art.  In this class,  Barbara will introduce you to a multitude of textures---applied, implied and created.  From the list below, start now to collect found and purchased materials to include in your work.  These items will be painted, distressed, burned, torn, cut and transformed into important additions to your collages.  We will be using a neutral color palette of black, brown and white.
