Bike Etiquette

I need some help with how to handle a situation that I had today w/ a biker. I was traveling north on a very busy street at 5:30 today. I needed to get in the right turn lane to turn into a subdivision. There was a biker in the right bike lane that approaches the turn lane. I had 3 options: Get behind him and move forward to the turn lane.
Speed up and cut in front of him and hope that he wouldn't run into the back of the car. Stop in the right hand traffic lane, hold up traffic and hope that someone going 55 mph wouldn't run into me and let him pass me on the right and then move over into the turn lane. He was very upset w/me. He was gesturing w/ his hand and shaking his head. What should I have done? I guess I just could have not gone out at all!
