PEACHTREE CORNERS, GA. -- Hundreds of runners will descend on Peachtree Corners, Gwinnett County's newest and biggest city, Saturday, Oct. 5 for the 5th annual Technology Association of Georgia's Techie 5K/10K Run and Walk in Technology Park.
The Techie promotes healthy competition and networking in Georgia's technology community. Some of the proceeds will help fund the TAG-Education Collaborative, a 501c3 organization with a mission to strengthen the state's workforce by helping science technology, engineering and math (STEM) education initiatives.
Companies are encouraged to sponsor corporate teams to build camaraderie among employees and encourage healthy and fit lifestyles.
5K and10K corporate team and individual awards are presented to 1st and 2nd place male and female finishers, the fastest C-Level runner and the runner who can beat the TAG CEO. The Corporate Cup will be presented to the best techie team time.
Some 300 participants, including 25 corporate teams competed last year.
Peachtree Corners city officials will help promote the event and will schedule a press conference in September.
Mayor Mike Mason said, "We're honored to welcome hundreds of runners to our great city for this exciting event. We believe Peachtree Corners is the heart of technology in Georgia and the Techie 5K/10K Run and Walk will help us to spread the word."
