A Look at One of our Community Churches, Peachtree Corners Baptist Church

4480 Peachtree Corners Circle, Norcross, GA 30092 770-448-1313

Editor's note: Houses of Worship are a big part of our community. Look for our profiles of Peachtree Corners churches to appear periodically.

The Peachtree Corners Baptist Church has been a part of the foundation of the community since 1982.  But the story of the church actually began in 1977 with the vision of Dr. Jim Chavis, Pastor of the Dunwoody Baptist Church and his “Decade of Destiny” plan.  His plan was to reach out to others in spiritual need through mission churches – the first of which was at Peachtree Corners.

The Peachtree Corners Mission got underway in earnest in 1981 when 15 believers began meeting in the home of Marion and Jackie Hayes.  From those Sunday evening meetings in the Hayes’ home to the mission’s first structure, a doublewide mobile home with 80 members in attendance, the church grew until it was constituted in 1982 as the Peachtree Corners Baptist Church with 127 charter members.  In 1984 the church constructed the first of five buildings that now comprise the church campus.

With the start of the new millennium came the start of the church’s education programs.  In 2001, the church opened Cornerstone Christian Academy which now includes classes for kindergarten through eighth grade – all part of its ongoing efforts to Worship God, Proclaim the Gospel, and Develop Disciples...for God’s Glory.”
