Friendly American Pit Bull Terrier Ready for Adoption

Witteny, a 2-year-old female, is up-to-date on all her shots, microchipped and ready for her forever family and home for Christmas.

Meet Witteny!  Witteny is an American Pit Bull Terrier who is 2 years old and weighs 55 lbs.

Witteny was pulled from a high-kill Georgia shelter in June of 2012. Due to her breed and the stigma surrounding it, she was listed as a "rescue only" dog and was slated to be put down at 4:00 p.m. Then with five minutes to spare an "angel" named Lynda stepped in and agreed to foster her and save her life that fateful day.

When Lynda brought her home, she was very skinny and had the scars on her from being used as a possible "bait dog."  Witteny is NOT a fighter - she is a total love bug who wants only to love and be loved.

Her life changed course on that fateful day and now she is looking for that special "forever home." Witteny loves adults and children, and is good with medium to larger, well-behaved dogs.  She does get excited around smaller dogs and cats, so she would do better in a home that does not have either cats or small-breed dogs.

Being a terrier, she likes to chase squirrels in the backyard and jumps about like a deer hopping around when she runs. She doesn't care much for toys but loves to chase the light from a laser pen - which she will do for hours, if you'll play with her.

What she enjoys most is being with her human, cuddling. She waits each night for her foster mom to lift the blanket, then snuggles in and doesn't move a muscle until time to get up the next morning.  She also doesn't mind when "mom" plays with her ears, tail, or take her bone away from her.

Her favorite thing in the world is a good, long car ride! Witteny would love a "forever" home with a privacy fence, and a family who would take her for a nice jog or run - she is great on a leash.  She would thrive in a home where she can be spoiled, and also taught new tricks, as she is very smart and loves it when she hears "good girl!" from her human.

She is spayed, house and crate-trained, goes potty outside, is heartworm negative, up-to-date on all her shots, microchipped and ready for her forever family and home for Christmas.
