Carol’s Corner: Gearing Up for ALTA
The Spring ALTA season is just around the corner and lots of Peachtree Corners and Berkley Lake residents are ready to take part.
The temperatures are still on the nippy side but that’s not enough to keep ALTA players from getting out their tennis rackets and hitting the courts in preparation for the Spring ALTA season which is right around the corner.
ALTA, Atlanta Lawn Tennis Association, started tennis league play here in Atlanta in 1971. At that time there were less than 1,000 members. Now ALTA boasts a whopping 80,000 members and is adding more all the time. As you can tell by all of the tennis courts in the area, many of those players live right here in Peachtree Corners and Berkeley Lake.
“ALTA is the largest community based tennis organization in the U.S. and it is an integral part of tennis in Atlanta... ALTA is as much a social venue as a sports organization. Many life long friendships are forged on the tennis court,” comments Diane Barker, First Vice President of ALTA.
