City's New Logo a Community Effort

Peachtree Corners citizen committee along with Accent Creative Group in Lawrenceville, spent months working on the design.

By now those of you who have attended City Council meetings or received any correspondence from the city have undoubtedly noticed the new City of Peachtree Corners logo.

The green, blue and white logo incorporates a number of prominent elements of the city including the community's numerous trees, the Chattahoochee River which defines part of the city's border and subtley features four corners as a take off from the city's name.

It was a collaborative effort by a group of citizens and a design artist who spent several months developing a unique design that would identify the new city.

Ashleigh James, a graphic design artist with Accent Creative Group, a marketing firm based in Lawrenceville, along with nine Peachtree Corners residents spent almost four months to get it just right.

On the committee were: Laura Cole, Lynette Howard, Cayman James, Debbie Mason, Gay Shook, Michael Stewart, Igor Vukojevic, Wendy Willis and Mary Beth McLaughlin.

"It was certainly an honor to be asked to consult on the new city logo design," said Wendy Willis, one of the committee members.  

"Our committee worked diligently with Accent Creative to identify a signature graphic that would represent Peachtree Corners well for years to come.  

"Over the course of approximately four months, we grew from concept to completion, with valuable committee input and teamwork.  It was an honor to be part of this city history," said Willis.

The committee had several face-face-meetings with Pam Ledbetter, owner of Accent Creative Group and also incorporated numerous surveys and follow-ups.

James, who studied at Brenau, was the lead designer. "It has wonderful elements of the city," she said adding that tree was a significant part of the design along with the river and the "corners" of the design were added in a "catchy way."

"Though we didn’t use a peach we still wanted the image to be relevant to the name which is why we focused a bit more on the “tree” aspect, James explained. "The branches of the tree are a slight nod to the connection of streets and cul-de-sacs within the community."

The logo also caught the eye of an international group that honors small firms, agencies and companies for their creative work. The Lawrenceville agency received a Gold Davey Award, the highest honor, for its design. The Peachtree Corners logo was selected out of nearly 4,000 entries.

Accent Creative Group created the design free of charge to the new city.

I like it. Glad they avoided the peach. There were several commenters here on The Patch that talked about how tired and overused it is in GA.

I think the design was well done and should serve the city well for a long time to come. I think it's very creative and so different than many city logos.
