Classic Cars to Modern Day Marvels Draws a Crowd
It was all about cars at the recent car show at Peachtree Corners Baptist Church.
A fun way to raise funds for the youth mission trip to New York City was the hosting of an auto show in the parking lot across from the Baptist church at Peachtree Corners Circle. It was a picture perfect day with blue skies, warm temperatures and classic cars as well as one surprise vehicle.
Think part boat, part airplane and you might guess hovercraft. You would be correct. Having never seen such a vehicle in person, it did attract attention as it lifted off of its trailer and descended to the parking lot.
H. Harold Carter has constructed his own hovercraft, but he purchased this particular vehicle from a fellow enthusiast and friend. Its Corvair automobile engine is of 1963 vintage and its 106 horse power is more than enough to provide forward motion. A mere 22 horse power Kohler engine, like the one you might find on your lawn tractor fills the undercarriage so that it lifts off of the surface be it water, asphalt or whatever. But wait! Isnβt this a car show? Read on and ogle the four-wheel beauties and beasts that roam our roads.
