What do you get when you put 14 staff teams from 14 YMCAs across Metro Atlanta on a huge empty soccer field?

You get a YMCA Staff Field Day. Each year our Sanders Buckhead YMCA organizes an Association wide staff field day. This event is full of fun and teamwork and a continual reminder to put a little play into our work days.

YMCA Field Day is an annual event, where the each branch in the Metro Atlanta YMCA Association put together a team of 10 or more staff members. These teams are made up of full time and part time staff from all the departments at each branch.

Each branch is encouraged to create a team name, design a team shirts and a team cheer. There were 10 staff members from the Fowler YMCA that made up team “Fowler Power!”

Field Day takes place at the each year at the Windsor Sports Complex in Sandy Springs. Each branch is responsible for submitting one game and the supplies it would to execute the game. Some of the games that we participated in definitely challenged our athleticism and coordination.

It’s difficult trying to run with a ball on a spoon, or with a roll of toilet paper tucked between you and your teammate. There were points given to teams that came in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place at each game and of course there is the coveted Spirit Stick given to the team with the most spirit

Our Fowler Y did place overall, but this day brought us closer together as a staff team and allowed us to be re-energized for the wonderful work that we do to support our community! Don’t forget to add a little play into your work day.
