Look for Harvest Moon in Sky Thursday Night

Clear skies are predicted in Peachtree Corners so the moon should appear extra bright.

Take a moment and step outside Thursday evening for a glimpse of the 2013 harvest moon.

According to earthsky.org, the harvest moon is defined as the full moon closest to the autumnal equinox. So the night of September 18-19 has the brightest, fullest moon in our part of the hemisphere.

The autumnal equinox arrives Sept. 22, when the nearly equal 12 hours of light and darkness will be caused by the Earth's lack of an axial tilt.
