Over 150 fans of New York Times bestselling author Karin Slaughter gathered last Friday at the book discussion and signing sponsored by Gwinnett County Public Library and Barnes & Noble in Peachtree Corners.
The July 1st evening began with an opening welcome by Harmon Snipes, president of The Forum Writer’s Group. Denise Auger, Community Partnership Coordinator for the library, introduced Slaughter mentioning her numerous books, including the newest Fallen.
The author was recently awarded the Silver Bullet Award from the International Thriller Writers for outstanding achievement is the pursuit of literacy and love of reading.
Slaughter's support of literacy might help to explain her current campaign to raise awareness of and gather support for libraries. She seemed pleased that Barnes & Noble would give back to the library by donating a portion of each sale that weekend to the library.
"You can support your library when you shop online from now through July 9th at www.bn.com and enter the library’s Bookfair Event ID Number 10503043 in the designated field found at the bottom of the payment page during checkout," said Diane Payne, spokesperson for the Gwinnett County Public Libraries. "Barnes & Noble will donate a percentage of the sale to GCPL."
