Peachtree Corners Neighborhood Abuzz With Film Crews, Actors

Simpsonwood Retreat is serving as the base camp while filming takes place in a nearby home on Fitzpatrick Way for a Hollywood film starring Samuel L. Jackson and Jessica Alba.

The normally quiet cul-de-sac on Fitzpatrick Way was brimming with actors and film crews this week.

Hollywood has chosen one of the homes in the Peachtree Corners neighborhood as a location shoot for a new movie, "Barely Lethal" starring Samuel L. Jackson and Jessica Alba.

The film, directed by Kyle Newman, is using the Simpsonwood Retreat and Conference Center as its staging area for the myriad of trucks needed including those for wardrobe, camera grips, props - and parking for the 150 extras and 70 crew needed for the shoot.

When Patch arrived on Wednesday afternoon, a spokesperson said they expected to be there three days but were behind schedule. The day we were there, the home's front windows were covered with black material, and the front driveway and street was filled with equipment and film crew. The reason for the black covering was that they were shooting a scene which takes place at night.

Preston Chappell, who lives nearby, alerted Patch of the happenings in the neighborhood. In an email yesterday he said, there was "lots of activity at Simpsonwood this morning.  It was really a zoo...I could barely get in the entrance with all of the semi-trailers, etc."

The film, set to be released sometime in 2014, is an action comedy, about a 16-year-old international assassin yearning for a "normal" adolescence who fakes her own death and enrolls as a senior in a suburban high school. She quickly learns that being popular can be more painful than getting water-boarded."

Also starring in the film is Hailee Steinfield and "Catching Fire" actor Bruno Gunn.
