Relay for Life Gets Big Boost from Blue Devils

The Norcross High School teams are big fund raisers for the 2013 event scheduled for this weekend in Lawrenceville.

The 2013 version of the Gwinnett Relay for Life is near, and Norcross High is coming up big in fundraising.

NHS ranks second in the most monies raised, with more than $38,300 pledged so far (as of midday May 8), according to the Gwinnett Relay website.

Among participating teams, North Gwinnett High takes the top spot with about $72,000. Mill Creek High is in third place with more than $25,300 raised.

Relay for Life, which is a function of the American Cancer Society, will be held at the Gwinnett Fairgrounds in Lawrenceville on May 10-11, beginning at 7 p.m.

It's an organized, overnight fund-raising walk to raise money for cancer patients. Teams of people camp out around a track, and take turns walking around a track.

Also, food, games and activities provide entertainment, the website says.

Individuals can participate, too.
