Report: Pregnant Woman Says Nearly $4K Stolen While She Caught Her Breath

She says the money was for taking care of her unborn child, who is having complications.

A pregnant Gwinnett County woman told police someone stole nearly $4,000 of her money as she was catching her breath after being out in the sun.

In an interview with WSB-TV, Jennifer Conley of Norcross said the money came from the sale of a truck — money she was planning to use to help her take care of her unborn son, who has been diagnosed with developmental complications. She told the station she has had to quit her job and has been selling off her belongings to bring in money.

On Monday, she sold her pickup truck and while she was returning to her apartment with the money she got light-headed from being in the sun and stopped to catch her breath after she climbed stairs.

She set down $3,800 on a ledge at the top of a stairwell, according to her GoFundMe page, and when she realized less than a minute later that she left the money there less, she returned to the ledge to find the money was gone.

Conley said on her GoFundMe page that she intended to use the money on a nursery, baby necessities and to pay down some of her debt.

She thinks someone was watching her make the transaction and waited for an opportunity to steal the money.

Gwinnett Police says it is investigating the case, but no arrests have been made.
