A pregnant Gwinnett County woman told police someone stole nearly $4,000 of her money as she was catching her breath after being out in the sun.

In an interview with WSB-TV, Jennifer Conley of Norcross said the money came from the sale of a truck — money she was planning to use to help her take care of her unborn son, who has been diagnosed with developmental complications. She told the station she has had to quit her job and has been selling off her belongings to bring in money.

On Monday, she sold her pickup truck and while she was returning to her apartment with the money she got light-headed from being in the sun and stopped to catch her breath after she climbed stairs.

She set down $3,800 on a ledge at the top of a stairwell, according to her GoFundMe page, and when she realized less than a minute later that she left the money there less, she returned to the ledge to find the money was gone.

Conley said on her GoFundMe page that she intended to use the money on a nursery, baby necessities and to pay down some of her debt.

She thinks someone was watching her make the transaction and waited for an opportunity to steal the money.

Gwinnett Police says it is investigating the case, but no arrests have been made.

Well, ummmmm.....if she needs money, why did she quit her job?

Sorry, but this story does NOT add up. How is a tiny wad of cash in your hand so heavy that you need to leave it to go 'catch your breath'?!? She could have removed her shoes and dropped more weight than the wad of money she supposedly left. This screams of someone who thinks they will get a hand out (more than what she'll already get from taxpayers for the baby) via the preggers sob story. And yeah you don't quit your job because your baby might come out NINE months later with 'developmental problems'. Wonder how she plans to provide anything for that kid with no job or self made income? This is a SCAM & for this paper to help by linking to her fraud funding page is just pathetic! If she can't hold onto a tiny wad of cash how will she ever hold onto the baby itself? Oh wait silly me, TAXPAYERS will do all that like we do for every other unwed/unfit female who makes a baby for a free ride:)

I agree. It sounds like a con to me to draw attention to her fund me site. I hope they check to see if she truly had a job she quit and if anything is wrong with the baby. Plus, where is the father if she has no money? Entire thing sounds wrong.

I saw this story yesterday on the news & immediately thought it sounded like a lie. Funny how NOWHERE in the news story does she mention this added tidbit from her scam me page “ I immediately returned to the stairs to find the money was gone. Witnesses saw a female neighbor take my money. This neighbor was in the parking lot while I was completing the sale. She refused to return my money". So she went from saying yesterday 'someone stole it' to now she knows who it was & there was a witness=sorry does NOT add up & apparently not to the cops either. Come on people if I can figure that one out in 1 day where is 1 real reporter in this city to do the same?!? I hope she goes to jail for this:)
