Special Dog with Special Needs Looking For Forever Home

Rainy is available for adoption from Angels Among Us Pet Rescue.

Meet Rainy, a male, Lab-shepherd mix who is 8-12 months old, and weighs around 40-50 pound. Rainy is neutered, microchipped, up to date on all his shots and vetting and is ready to find his forever home and family.

Rainy has such a special story to tell. You see, this poor pup was used by someone to train another dog to fight. Precious Rainy is not a fighter at all - he's very loving and doesn't have a mean bone in his body. This dear boy was brought into animal control after a horrible fight with torn ears, multiple puncture wounds all around his head.

As you can see in one of the pictures, Rainy actually lost the ear flap on the left side of his head that covered over the canal going into his ear. His injuries were horrific when he was first found and pulled from the shelter by Angels Among Us Pet Rescue.

Although his injuries were very graphic in nature, he showed nothing but love and gratitude to the volunteer who rescued him from the awful place he was in.  He was rushed to the vet where he was assessed, his injuries treated and stitched up, and the vets found out his hearing was not impaired by the excruciating injuries he sustained.

In spite of it all, this boy was licking everyone's hands and faces, thanking them for saving his life and helping him get the medical help he so badly needed.

Sweet Rainy was named that because the night he came to Angels, there were terrible rain storms in the Atlanta area and it seemed an appropriate name because this pup had just survived his own physical and emotional storm and had come through it with flying colors.

Rainy shows no ill effects from his injuries, has healed up beautifully, and is just a complete love at his foster home. He doesn't mind his ear and head being touched. He loves other dogs, greatly enjoys playing with those in his foster home in the backy ard and just "melts" when you pet and love on him.

He does get a bit excited around cats, so probably a home without them would be best for Rainy. This boy would do very well in a home with older kids who would spend time playing with him, throwing the ball so he could retrieve it and bring it back for more, and someone who would give him plenty of belly rubs, chew toys, a nice warm bed to sleep in, and a human who would snuggle with him and keep him safe for the rest of his life.

The ideal home for Rainy would be one where a human was home during the day, or close enough to come home during the day to take him outside to potty. Rainy also has no need to be crated in his home, as he is not destructive and has nice house manners.
