Sweet Natured Hound Ready for Adoption

Jaffe is looking for a forever home and is available through Angels Among Us Pet Rescue.

Meet "Jaffe," a male Hound-mix dog who is 4 to 5 years old and weighs approximately 78 pounds. He is a tad overweight right now, but his foster is helping him slim down a bit.

The vet says ideally he should weigh about 60 pounds and he was obviously overfed by his previous owners. He is neutered, house and crate-trained, up-to-date on shots and vetting and micro chipped.

Jaffe is good with non-reactive, easygoing dogs but he's not been around felines, so we don't know how he would react - most hound mixes find them fun to chase, so probably no kitties for his home.  He adores humans and attention from them.  He is OK with kids, but does best with older ones who know not to jerk bones and toys out of his mouth.

He can get a bit "mouthy" about his toys, but his foster is working hard with him and he's making great progress. This dog came to Angels Among Us Pet Rescue through animal control, where he was brought in as a stray. Jaffe knows basic obedience commands such as "down," "quiet," etc.  He hardly ever barks, takes his treats nicely, and gives lots of sweet kisses in return to his humans.

Jaffe was adopted around a year ago when first coming into Angels, but due to some family issues, was returned to us.  Jaffe was very sad and didn't quite understand what was happening to him, but he's a good dog who is working hard with his foster family to overcome his fears of never finding that "forever home and family" he longs for.

Jaffe is a real lover, but has had a rough time in the past and it isn't so easy for him to quickly give his heart away anymore.  This precious soul needs to know that someone will love him and keep him forever so he can relax and know he'll always have a home with a heart who will love him forever.

The ideal home for Jaffe would be one where he could be the "only dog," or with one who is very laid-back and a large breed like himself. He loves to play with his toys and just hang around, playing in the yard and just getting as much attention and loving as he can from his family.  He does take a bit of time to warm-up to you but once he does, he absolutely falls in love with you and his heart is yours for life.
