The Fishing Report: Your Guide to the Chattahoochee River

Peachtree Corners and Berkeley Lake residents have access to one of the best fishing spots in Atlanta -- right in their backyards.

This week we're debuting a new weekly feature - The Fishing Report. Your guide and fishing expert is Tim Matthews who will provide tips and information on fishing -- and hopefully catching -- fish in the Chattahoochee River.

For all of you fishermen - it's time to pull out your fishing gear and enjoy a summer fishing season on the Hooch. And even if you've never wet a line, this is the place to start learning about fishing in Georgia. Here's Tim's first report:

Currently the Chattahoochee River is fishing great with wooly buggers and nymphs such as the formally known as prince, blues assassin and holy grails.

Dry fly action has been on caddis flies and blue wing olives.

North Georgia has been producing great catches on wooly buggers and nymphs also, with larger fish being taken on trout toads and little raschels.

Bass have been on the bed this past week and will take larger shad patterns and wooly buggers.  You just have to be patient with the bass.

Bream have been hitting on poppers and crystal soft hackles.

Any questions, stop by the Orvis store at The Forum, I'll be glad to help.
