Community Corner

Three Years And Counting ...

With the flip of a switch on Dec. 10, 2010 somewhere at Patch headquarters Peachtree Corners Patch became a live site on the Internet and the journey began.

Today is a milestone of sorts - it's Peachtree Corners Patch's 3rd birthday.

But there would be no celebration without all of you who have taken Patch under your wing and nursed it along in its infancy. You've been awesome, quick to say thanks for covering important news, critical when I missed the boat - but always supportive.

It's been a lot of work - and a lot of fun too. I've had the pleasure of getting to know so many of you over the past three years. I've witnessed the birth of a new city, the elections of the city's first mayor and council, Norcross High's first football state championship win and so much more.

There's been other sensational news to cover too, like the fire at Dreamland that destroyed the popular barbecue restaurant. Many of you added to the story including the call from a nearby business owner alerting me of the fire - and the videos and photos sent in from those who witnessed the blaze.

I've had the pleasure of being part of ribbon-cutting ceremonies, covering school events and so many other stories I cannot even recall at the moment.

But many of you have contributed so much to make Peachtree Corners Patch a success. I cannot imagine what Patch would have been like without the columns and blogs that many of you have written since the early years when Patch was just getting established - Your insight and opinions would have been missed. And a big thanks to all of you who have taken time to add comments -your prospectives have added greatly to the stories.

I admire your energy and dedication in fighting for your community and never stopping until it's right whether it's a big box retailer who wants to open up shop or deciding how a prime piece of real estate should be developed.

So on this third anniversary, I want to say thanks again for reading and for contributing - because this is truly a partnership.
