PEACHTREE CORNERS, GA, June 17, 2014 – Two community representatives from Gwinnett’s newest city are among 40 who have been selected for the Leadership Gwinnett Class of 2015.

Peachtree Corners Council member Weare Gratwick, a Vice President at Wells Fargo, and businessman Alan Kaplan, a member of the Planning Commission and President and CEO of A New Beginning Estate Liquidations, Inc., will begin the nine-month program in August.

Leadership Gwinnett, which began in 1985, was created to ensure that the community’s most influential and esteemed leaders are knowledgeable about issues, are well-networked and passionate about the success of the county and region, the organization said in a press release.

“We’re very proud of our new representatives,” said Peachtree Corners Mayor Mike Mason. “Leadership Gwinnett has a great track record of success in leadership development. You learn a tremendous amount about the many aspects of leadership as well as about our county and region. But a real benefit is the life-time relationships you develop. This can only help our city as we face the challenges of the future.”

Since the program’s inception, 998 alumni have participated in the program, said June Sweat, General Chair of Leadership Gwinnett. “This Class of 2015 earns a special distinction as the 30th, anniversary class.”

Candidates are chosen based on their occupations and qualifications and are selected to balance the class to reflect a cross section of the county. The program includes several overnight retreats, classes covering topics such as economics, education, health & human services, study groups, exclusive tours and hands-on experiences.
