YMCA's First Healthy Kids Day™ Triathlon Event a Success

The program is the nation's largest health day for families designed to encourage healthy lifestyles.

For some local kids last Saturday in Peachtree Corners was not a typical morning.  It was a morning full of friendly competition and physical activity at the Kids Triathlon Race Day sponsored by the Robert Fowler Family YMCA.

The event was held as part of the Y’s Healthy Kids Day, the nation’s largest health day for families.

After training every Saturday for the past 12 weeks with coach Adrienne Anderson, the young participants competed in three races, biking, swimming and running.

"This is our first year to have this triathlon and we are proud of every athlete," said associate executive director Curtis Winston.  It’s not about coming in first at the Y – everyone who competes is a winner!

Every athlete who crossed the finish line received a medal and T-shirt. "We want to reward every kid that participated and encourage them to live a healthy and active lifestyle," said executive director Debbie Sutton.
