Add Wesleyan Artist Market To Your List of Things to Do This Weekend

Free to the public, come and enjoy arts, music, children's activities and more. All events and activities are Thursday-Saturday on the school campus.

The weekend of April 28-30 will be a great time to take your entire family out to enjoy the 13th Annual Wesleyan Artist Market held in the Yancey Gymnasium on the Wesleyan campus in Peachtree Corners. All of the activities are free and the public is welcome. The artists are housed indoors so you can see and purchase their work rain or shine. Art of all forms will be on display and for sale at this three day event.

Fine Arts is a big part of the academic emphasis at Wesleyan School. As a result there is an Arts Alliance Board, comprised entirely of parent volunteers, in charge of this fund raising event. “All of the proceeds go directly into the school’s Fine Arts program,” explains Leianne Messina-Brown, publicity and marketing chairman.

Each year this art weekend at Wesleyan has become more popular. There are a number of nationally known artists taking part and the waiting list for artists to participate grows yearly. Along with a booth fee, artists donate 25 percent of their profits to the Wesleyan Fine Arts program.

There’s more to do at the Artist Market than just see and purchase art. On opening night Stanton Lanier, a.k.a.  the “Pianist of Peace,” will give a live performance. And on Friday evening the Brad Williams band will perform.  Saturday evening features a quartet from the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra.

During the day on Friday and Saturday there will be multiple children’s activities available, again for no charge. These include Fair Hair--hair designs for boys and girls, face painting, airbrush tattoos and craft activities.
