'Days of Our Lives' Fans Get Second Chance: E-mail

Tour establishes special e-mail address for anyone unable to buy a book at this week's huge turnout.

The overwhelming turnout Monday in Suwanee for the "Days Of Our Lives" event left many fans empty-handed and frustrated. But show officials want to make amends.

"Days" officials have announced that anyone who was turned away at City Hall can purchase a signed copy of the book "Days Of Our Lives 45 Years: A Celebration in Photos" through a special e-mail address.

The address is: Daysbooks@itgirlpublicrelations.com

The Suwanee stop, with a crowd estimated at 2,000, was the most successful in the multi-city tour that originated in Los Angeles, where the show is filmed, and included stops in Chicago and New York, officials said. The tour stopped in the New Orleans area after Suwanee.

Fans began lining up in mid-afternoon at Suwanee City Hall, and people were still lined up outside after 9 p.m. The signing was scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Two lines -- one solely for book purchases -- stretched to the parking lot behind the building during the event.

Coordinated by the Gwinnett County Public Library, the event was moved to City Hall because of the expected crowd. Fans of the show, which is the longest-running scripted show in NBC history, came from surrounding states such as Alabama, Tennessee and North Carolina.

Greg Meng, executive in charge of production for "Days," commented in a news release: "The cast and I were thrilled and overwhelmed by the large number of our family of fans that came to see us Monday."

Suwanee police assisted in keeping the crowd contained as the cast and authors enthusiastically stayed for an additional 2 1/2 hours, attempting to meet everyone, a news release said.
