Gwinnett Arena Ranked a Top Venue Worldwide

The Duluth entertainment venue was ranked 5th domestically and 10th worldwide by Venues Today. Pollster Magazine ranked it 32nd domestically and 66th worldwide.

 

Venues Today and Pollstar Magazine recently ranked The Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth as a top arena venue worldwide in their 2012 Year-End Reports. The Arena is celebrating its 10th year in 2013.

“We had a fantastic year of events from NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Championships to the Dave Matthews Band,” said Joseph Dennis, general manager at Gwinnett Center, in a press release. “We are privileged to be in such a great community that supports the events that come to The Arena.”

Venues Today and Pollstar Magazine are leading entertainment industry publications. Their 2012 Year-End Reports are based on box office sales and attendance figures for live entertainment and concert ticket sales during the 2012 calendar year.

“Top Stops – Year-End”

The Arena at Gwinnett Center was ranked 5th domestically and 10th worldwide (with year-end gross ticket sales of $10,073,326) in the Venues Today 2012 December Year-End Issue in December 2012. The Top Stop ranking was based on gross ticket sales for arenas of its size (size category: 10,001-15,000).

“2012 Year-End Worldwide Ticket Sales TOP 200 Arena Venues”

The Arena at Gwinnett Center was ranked 32nd domestically and 66th worldwide in Pollstar Magazine’s Year-End edition in December 2012. This ranking was based on an arena attendance of 207,076 tickets sold.

(All figures are for tickets sold worldwide as reported to Pollstar for shows played between 1/1/12 and 12/31/12.)

Besides the nationally televised NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Championships, the sell-out performances at The Arena during 2012 included Blake Shelton (Jan. 27), TOOL (Feb. 8), George Strait and Martina McBride (Feb. 10), Red Hot Chili Peppers (April 10), Lady Antebellum (June 22), One Direction (June 26), American Idol LIVE! (Aug. 5), Dave Matthews Band (Dec. 12), and Carrie Underwood (Dec. 19). 

The Arena also reported multiple family show sell outs for the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus and “Disney on Ice.”

“The Arena will celebrate 10 Years of Entertainment in February, and we couldn’t be more excited for what’s to come this year,” said Dan Markham, director of Arena Booking at Gwinnett Center. “We look forward to a strong lineup in 2013, so stay tuned for more announcements.”

A multi-purpose facility, the Gwinnett Center includes The Arena at Gwinnett Center, Gwinnett Convention Center, Hudgens Center for the Arts and the Gwinnett Performing Arts Center. The center is located in unincorporated Duluth.
