Lifetime Achievement Award Given to Peachtree Corners Resident

The Atlanta Association of Health Underwriters (AAHU) recognized a Peachtree Corners resident with the Patty Murphy Lifetime Achievement award. The award was presented at the organization’s recent 2014 Annual Awards meeting held at the Cobb Galleria in Atlanta, Georgia.

The award went to Teresa DeBruin, RHU from Peachtree Corners, Georgia.

The Patty Murphy Health Underwriters Lifetime Achievement Award is the highest award bestowed by the Atlanta Association of Health Underwriters (AAHU). In selecting a recipient, consideration is given to the individual’s professional stature within the industry, his/her support of Association programs, his/her career achievement and his/her civic, cultural and humanitarian involvements.

This award now has 15 recipients since its inception in 1999. It is awarded in the memory of Patty Murphy one of the founding members for the Atlanta chapter of Health Underwriters.

Teresa DeBruin is the President of DeBruin Benefit Services, Inc., located in Norcross, Georgia and is affiliated with A. A. LaRocco & Associates. The LaRocco Companies is an employee benefits insurance firm working with small and middle market employer groups on their group benefits.

Teresa brings over 25 years experience to this growing office and continues to serve her community and industry. She currently serves on the Georgia Association of Health Underwriters (GAHU) Board of Directors as the national legislative chair and is a member of the Atlanta Association of Health Underwriters.

In 2000 Teresa was also awarded the National Association of Health Underwriter’s (NAHU) Distinguished Service Award. She and her husband, Mickey, have been married 35 years and reside in Peachtree Corners, Georgia.

Teresa said, “It is truly a great honor to be recognized by my peers. Our clients need our support and guidance more than ever during this period of uncertainty and change. I am proud to be part  of an association whose members are so dedicated to this industry.”

AAHU is the city chapter of the National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU). NAHU is a voluntary association comprised of approximately 100,000 health insurance professionals including agents, brokers, carrier representatives and administrators throughout the United States.
