Mambo Italiano Restaurant

You don't have to go any farther than The Forum shopping center to enjoy delicious espresso style Italian cooking at Mambo Italiano.

Both the atmosphere and the wait staff at Mambos are warm and welcoming. A Vespa scooter near the entrance sets the theme for this modern Italian restaurant. Vintage photos of movie stars, all sitting on Vespas, adorn the walls. Maybe they were attending a Vespa convention.

I enjoyed a delightful lunch at Mambo. When I asked my server, Erin, to tell me some of the customer favorites she kept going and going. Maybe I should have asked what the customers don't like.

I decided to order a lunch special called Tour of Italy. I think that by the time I arrived in Venice I'd gained five pounds. For only $7.99 my meal included lasagna, chicken Alfredo and eggplant Parmesan. It was all very good. The lasagna includes Bechamel, a thick white sauce, which makes this dish creamier than some other lasagnas. The Alfredo sauce on the chicken was very tasty as well. Mambo offers a number of lunch specials starting at $6.99.

If you still have room, the desserts on the menu look like a must try. Mambo serves a popular tiramisu cake. I tried the crazy cake and that it was. It's a cake with four different layers: carrot cake, dark chocolate, red velvet and yellow with raspberry filling; great for sharing.

Owners Angelo and Nicole Laios have always had a love for good food. Angelo grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa where he owned and ran an Italian cafe. While visiting Atlanta for the Olympics he decided that this would be a wonderful place to own a restaurant; and so it is.

Authenticity is an important component to the owners. From the fire baked pizza, to gelatos straight from Milano and Lavazza coffee, you will have a true Italian experience from start to finish. While spending time in Italy Mr. Laios studied the pizza making process. The brick oven used at the restaurant was purchased in Tuscany.

New at Mambo is curbside service. Just call in your order, upon arrival park in the reserved parking space, call to say you're there and your order will be brought out to your car. This addition has been a big hit. Catering is an option too and any time the weather is warm enough the patio is available for open air dining.

Dining at Mambo Italiano is a little like enjoying a taste of Italy right in your own backyard.
