"The variety is unmatched," said Rick Kerns. "We bring in corned beef and pastrami from New York City, our Philly meat from Philadelphia and Italian rolls from Costanzo's Bakery in Buffalo."

The restaurant is appropriately named - the portions are large, so come hungry to this new eatery. On Kerns recommention, I ordered the chicken sub on my first venture, and I wasn't disappointed, it was delicious.

The restaurant uses only antibotic-free, sustainably farmed chicken breasts and its uses Black Angus USDA Choice roast beef with no injections.

Larry's Giant Subs was founded in Jacksonville, Florida in 1982 by brothers Larry and Mitch Raikes. The duo opened their first sub shop in the north Florida town, today 60 shops operate throughout Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.

Kerns has been involved with the business since 1996 when he opened up his first sub shop in Brunswick, Georgia and now owns a half dozen others located in Georgia and South Carolina.

The interior of the restaurant is decorated with New York City-themed posters, photos and art work including a giant King Kong hanging near the cash register. And outside facing Peachtree Parkway is a flat-bed truck with an eye-catching display of workers sitting on a steel beam having lunch.

The restaurant also has catering and take-out service and is offering a grand opening special for the first month - get an 8-inch sub of the day, chips and dring for $6.99.

"We're excited to be here and look forward to being a part of the community," said Kerns.

Larry's Giant Subs is located at 5270 Peachtree Parkway in Peachtree Corners, telephone: 770-300-0804, website, www.larryssubs.com.
