Old Gun Range Gets New Owners and New Look

The former American Classic Marksman has been entirely renovated inside and out. The Peachtree Corners facility also sports a new name.

The new city of Peachtree Corners has something else new within its borders - a gun club and shooting range.

The 12-year-old American Classic Marksman on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and Medlock Bridge Road has been taken over by a group who also owns and operates the Sandy Springs Gun Club and Range.

If you've been traveling up and down either of those major thoroughfares then you've surely noticed the flurry of construction going on over the past several months.

There has been a major transformation to the building's exterior and interior - to the tune of $800,000 plus, said Ronn Brown, the Vice President of Operations for the company.

If it's been a while since you've been to the gun range, the renovations and improvements to the outside - and inside - of the building will likely be a very pleasant surprise.

The transformation to the outside of the building includes relocating the entrance to a new double-door entry way that faces Peachtree Industrial Boulevard. The building's facade has been refurbished with fresh landscaping and green awnings.

The interior has been completely redesigned and restocked with new guns and accessories. "The interior is smoother, cleaner and lighter," said Brown. "Our emphasis is on customer service and in providing a place that women will also be comfortable in," he said. A new ventilation system has also been installed.

"We installed a new backdrop and new range equipment including the trolleys that move the targets and new counters in the show room," he said.

Brown said the company wants to provide a place that not only appeals to men, but to women as well.

"At our Sandy Springs location, 40 percent of our business comes from women," said Brown who added they have designed the Peachtree Corners club with the expectation of drawing women to the new location as well.

There's plenty for gun enthusiasts, both male and female, to enjoy at the club. Among the amenities:

  • Lunch Hour Special: Mon-Fri (except holidays) 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., all shooters $12.00
  • Ladies Day: Every Thursday (Ladies' range time is free all day)
  • Firearm and personal protection equipment rental, fire arm rental: $10 for each firearm (daily rate), Ar-15 and AK rental $15 for each firearm (daily rate). Eye and Ear protection rentals, $1.00 each.
  • Targets: prices and choices range from $.75 to $2.00
  • The club also offers handgun safety classes by a certified instructor, membership plans for individual, family and corporate.

The driving force in the business he said is ensuring customers are happy. "It all goes to customer service," said Brown who said the company allows customers to try out the guns before purchasing. The club sells both new and used guns.

Brown is one of three partners, Robyn Marzullo and Cara Workman, both sisters, make up the trio. The partners also have plans to expand to Kennesaw to open their third gun club and range in the near future.
