India Friendship Exchange

Several weeks ago Peachtree Corners Rotary Club also hosted Rotarians from Bangalore, India.  They are a part of the District to District Friendship Exchange and were on their way to New Orleans, LA for the Rotary International conference. In February members of Rotary District 6110 traveled to Bangalore, India to attend their district Conference and while there visited the towns of Mysore, Coorg, Belur/Halebeed, Shravanabelagola and Hampi. While in India, the Georgia Rotarians stayed with the families of Indian Rotarians. And in return, when the Indian Rotarians where in Atlanta they stayed with the families of the Rotarians who had traveled to India.

Our visitors are from district 3190: Bangalore: Rotary club of Sadashivanagar.  The population of metro Bangalore is 6.56 million and the population density is 7665/Kilometer 2. As a comparision metro Atlanta population is 5.62 million and the population density: 1552/kilometer 2

Individual Rotary clubs belong to Rotary International. Individual members, or Rotarians, belong to a club. The club is where most of Rotarians' meaningful service work is carried out. Clubs can be engaged not only in their communities, but also internationally.  What Rotarians get out of Rotary depends largely on what they put into it

Editor's note: The Peachtree Corners Rotary Club meets each Monday at noon at the Carlyle House in downtown Norcross. If you are interested in more information about the Peachtree Corners Rotary Club visit the organization's website or contact President Elect Randall Jackson via e-mail.
