Peachtree Corners Rotary Club News

Rotary District 6910 Governor William (Bill) St. Clair and his Assistant Governor for Area XII Otis P. Jones visit Peachtree Corners Rotary Club

Last Monday was an exciting Rotary meeting. Three events made the meeting memorable, inducting two new members having the meeting at GACS (Greater Atlanta Christian School), and a visit from the District Governor and Assistant Governor.

The Peachtree Corners Rotary Club was pleased to receive the District 6910 Governor William (Bill) St.Clair and his Assistant Governor for Area XII Otis P. Jones.  At the beginning of each Rotarian year the District Governor visit each of the over 70 local clubs in district 6910.  The DG and AG attended a board meeting prior to the lunch meeting in which he delivered an inspiring speech about the direction of Rotary and its many worldwide and local projects.

Rotary International’s year starts July 1, and as with every organization and individual it is a time for new goals and objectives and making new plans to achieve them. Rotary International sets the broad goals for the 1,200,000 worldwide Rotarians in over 33,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas.  Each District then develops Goals and Strategies for the District, and then each local Club determines its own local Goals and Objectives for the year.

During the Club Board meeting Club President Randall Jackson shared with the District Governor this year’s club theme, “Return to Rotary”.  This year’s goals include membership increases with both new members and previous members who may have needed to leave because of various personal reasons.

Others goals include continuing the club charitable contributions of at least $10,000, participation in the Group Study Exchange with Berth Australia, sharing sponsorship of a GRSP (Georgia Rotary Student Program) student from Denmark with two other clubs.  Also club goals include continuing the Student of the Month program and the Norcross High School Interact program.
