QuikTrip Plans To Raze Its Peachtree Corners Circle Store

The company plans on constructing a new, larger store with additional parking spaces and add a full service area inside with more food items.

The owners of the QuikTrip convenience store on Peachtree Corners Circle have made plans to tear down the building - and build an even bigger store.

At Wednesday's (July 17) meeting Peachtree Corners Zoning Board of Appeals heard a request by the owners of the store located at 3235 Peachtree Corners Circle to demolish the existing building and construct a 5,858 square-foot store in its place. This store is located near the intersection of Peachtree Industrial Boulevard.

The plans include 39 parking spaces, 16 fueling stations, updated landscaping, new canopy and a new building.

The company also plans to removed the boarded up building next door and use the area for its underground storage tanks.

The Tulsa, Oklahoma-based company has targeted the location to upgrade the facility to a new design that will increase the size of the store by some 1,300 square feet - add two front entrances and two side entrances, said Mike Thornbrugh, spokesman for QT.

"It's our new prototype, its a much bigger facility and has a completely different look on the inside and outside," said Thornbrugh.

Along with a different look, inside the company will add more food items. "We are getting in the fresh food business to compliment what we have," he said.

Thornbrugh said along with the self-service area, the company is adding a full-serve area where customers can order freshly made items such as grilled sandwiches, pizza and pretzels.

Peachtree Corners residents can expect to see the work on the new store to begin sometime after the first of the year.

"Plans are rolling now," said Patrick Conner, the real estate project manager for QT. "We plan on removing the current building by next spring. It's a three month process."

Which means, barring any weather-related delays, the new QuikTrip will be open for business by early summer.

QuikTrip, founded in 1958, is a privately held business that operates 662 stores in 11 states including 128 in the Atlanta metro area and employees over 13,000 employees.
