Restaurant Voluntarily Closes After Scoring 35 Out of 100 on Inspection

Among the 19 violations cited, employees were observed coughing into hands, licking gloves, not using soap to wash up.

A Gwinnett County restaurant voluntarily closed Wednesday, April 23, after scoring 35 out of 100 on its latest health department inspection.

Best Wings, located at 2522 Cruse Road near Lawrenceville, was cited for 19 violations, including three directed at the “person in charge,” who coughed into hands before handling food containers, did not use soap when washing hands, and was “not performing responsibilities.”

Among the other violations: employee licked gloves to get plastic bags apart, expired sour cream used to make sauce, unclean utensils with film and debris build-up, food not held at the right temperature, toilet not working in the ladies room and an abundance of trash around the dumpster.

According to the health department report, the restaurant must have a corrective action plan and schedule a compliance conference before re-opening.
