RockTenn May Relocate HQ Out of Norcross

Mayor says it would be a "tremendous loss" for Norcross.

RockTenn is looking into relocating its Norcross headquarters, potentially taking a $9 billion business and hundreds of jobs out of the area.

"This would be a tremendous loss for Norcross," said Mayor Bucky Johnson. "They are such good corporate citizens." Johnson said that they city just doesn't know yet what the economic impact might be, but that he sees losses on many levels, including the downtown businesses where employees shop and eat.

Nick Masino of Partnership Gwinnett said he understands that an announcement was made at headquarters yesterday but that “there’s nothing official to say at this point.”

The merger could potentially add hundreds more employees to the headquarters and be one reason for seeking a different space.
