The Flying Biscuit Restaurant: Southern Roots with a Trendy Flair.

The atmosphere is humming as you step into the bright surrounds of the Flying Biscuit Restaurant on Peachtree Parkway. Not only will you be tucking into some mouthwatering food, but in this brightly lit and brightly colored space, you’re bound to have a good time doing it. 

A good time, plus good food, is exactly what owner Brad Rubenstein wants to provide at his restaurant which will have been opened three years in October. Brad has always loved to cook. Upon his graduation from UGA, he moved on to cullinary school. Some years later, after looking around the Atlanta area, he decided Peachtree Corners was just the spot. His wife Mandi grew up in Peachtree Corners and went to Norcross High School, so they are familiar and happy with the area. 

Since breakfast food is the main event at this restaurant it was my choice for the day. Egg-ceptional Eggs (two black bean patties topped with eggs, tomatillo salsa, feta cheese and sour cream) were the first thing I tasted and egg-ceptional they were. Of course the eggs are served with award winning creamy grits and a made from scratch biscuit. Awards that have been won include an AOL online poll for best pancakes in America and Creative Loafing awards for grits and biscuits.

I didn't want to try only the eggs and biscuits, so next on my plate was Orange Scented French Toast. Made with thick sliced whole wheat bread and topped with raspberry sauce, it was delicious. I’m getting full just thinking about it.

Not only does The Flying Biscuit serve great breakfast food all day long, they offer a dinner menu as well. Shrimp and grits is one of the favorites says server Kevin Boston. They also serve flat iron steak, biscuit pot pie and new on the menu, a great turkey hash. 

Unlike most typical breakfast restaurants, The Flying Biscuit offers a full bar. On Thursday and Saturday nights there’s live music. They have showcased over 50 different musicians. Rubenstein says, “This is a way to support local musicians and provide something special for the community.” 

The restaurant is opened every day from 7 a.m.- 9 p.m. If you’re looking for a place to host a luncheon, meeting or party they have a semi-private room in the back that seats 40. Rubenstein is willing to close the restaurant on some week nights to serve larger parties.
