In Search of Health and Wellness

Stay fit, feel better, live longer.

By Colleen's Contributor, Bonnie Marshall

Being part of the Health and Wellness revolution has been a double blessing for me over the past year. Eating healthy was not a priority for me while growing up. As I have aged this way of thinking proved to be detrimental to my health. Poor choices culminated in unacceptable cholesterol scores, elevated liver enzymes, fatigue, excess weight, and sleep issues. The most disturbing for me was the excess weight. With two daughters graduating in the Spring of 2011, I wanted to look and feel better and lose 20 lbs. Of course, my doctor was concerned by the cholesterol scores and wanted to write a prescription. I realized it was time for a change and declined the prescription. Instead I decided to be proactive about my health goals.

I dreaded the thought of being on a “diet.” With the myriad of diet plans on the market today it is easy to become confused about which one will work best. Counting calories or dealing with a point system held no appeal for me.

I studied the effect toxins have an on our bodies, especially the liver. We keep ingesting more and more toxins through the food we eat, which may contain hormones, antibiotics, preservatives, pesticides and artificial sweeteners. We also absorb toxins through our skin (our largest organ). Many of the skin care products and cosmetics on the market today contain parabens, animal products or animal by-products, petroleum-based ingredients, such as mineral oil and petrolatum. We have overloaded our livers to the point that they cannot process all of the toxins. The outcome is toxic fat.

I decided to start a 30 day cleanse or detoxification program which proved to be a key health choice for me. The process I used involved:

  • Eating clean
  • Increasing my nutrient intake
  • Eliminating allergenic and addictive foods
  • Balancing blood sugar
  • Supporting the elimination organs (liver, kidneys, intestines and skin)

Once I committed to using the 30 Day to Fit plan along with nutritional products that were gluten, dairy, soy protein and cholesterol free, I was well on my way to reaching my health goals. Today I can report that I have reached all of my goals without medication, including losing 20 lbs, lowering my cholesterol, and returning my liver enzyme count to normal. Along with these improvements, I have more energy and sleep soundly. And, I am doubly blessed to have been able to help others reach their health goals. I am happy to share that plan with anyone who is interested. Visit my website to download a free copy. Once there, reference Client Information, Healthy Living Plan, 30 Days to Feeling Fit.
