On the Fashion Front: Hi Five for the Fourth of July

Five quick and easy fashion tips to look great and stay cool on the Fourth of July.

Number One: To keep your hair out of your face and sweat-free, try colored hair clips or bows. You can pin you hair back to one side or braid it off of the forehead and secure it with a colored bobby pin for a little Fourth of July flair.

Number Two: Get some red, white, and blue into your ensemble by painting your nails. You can do all one color, or alternate between red, white, and blue for a whimsical touch. I like Nars polish in Dovima (a great, classic red), OPI in DS Magic (a sparkly blue) and OPI in Alpine Snow (a clean, crisp white). Create a special effect using the OPI Shatter polishes mentioned in my last post. They come in blue and red and you can layer them over a contrasting color (i.e. blue shatter over red polish) for a unique look.

Number Three: Grab a sundress from any boutique, department store, or stores that are easy on your budget, such as Forever 21. It keeps you cool while looking cute! White is white-hot for summer, and can be used throughout the summer and into the fall.

Number Four: Sneak some blue into your look with subtle navy eyeliner. It’s a fresh change to black or brown liner and is extremely flattering. Navy is unexpected and makes eyes pop. A great option is Clinique Quickliner for Eyes in Navy. A steal option is Maybelline Eye Studio Master Drama Eyeliner in Sapphire Strength, which retails for around $5 at your local drugstore.

Number Five: Large floppy sunhats are summer musts, especially on a day like July 4, since most people spend the day in the sun. They provide a stylish alternative to baseball caps. Target carries a great white hat (keeping with our patriotic theme!) for around $11. It’s a real summer hit from Calypso by St. Barth for Target.
